Hi All,

Just a quick question,

I'm looking for the correct Audi spec and viscosity for gearbox on on an A4 B8 2009 2.0tdi, 105KW CAGA spec engine. Its got the standard 6 speed manual trans.

Best I've been able to find says 75W90 full synthetic, but doesn't actually list what audi spec it needs to meet. Phoning up Audi they keep saying that its "Sealed for life" but after a bit of discussion they mentioned that "life" actually means 100,000 miles :confused:.

I was also assuming i'll need around 5 litres for the refill?

Any help is appreciated.

You must find out the correct VW spec number eg G 052 911 , 75W90 is good for track thick but can hinder cold shifting . Better is 75W80 or thinner .

Go back and ask for the spec and also phone TPS to double check .

Hi Tonysco,

Did you find out the spec? I have exactly the same motor as you and since I'm getting the clutch, flywheel and crank seal done on Wednesday I want to change the gear oil too.

TIA.

It's either going to be Fuchs Titan Sintofluid SAE FE 75W
( G 052 171 ) or

Fuchs Titan Sintofluid SAE 75W-80 ( G 052 911 )

Hi there,

I gave up trying to get the spec from Audi, i phoned 3 dealerships and all said its a sealed unit and cant be serviced.

However i also sent a quick e-mail to Opie oils and in 30 mins they came back with this;

Pardon Our Interruption (https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-976-fuchs-titan-sintofluid-fe-sae-75w-synthetic-manual-transmission-oil.aspx)

I bought 5L from my LLN gearbox, but it ended up just taking 4. Easy enough to change when you have the car raised and level.
