mk3 gti 16v misfire

hello all, i have mk3 2l 16v on P reg, the engine idles a little rough but judders lke mad from 2700rpm to about 3500 after that still rough but not so bad. Have replaced plugs leads dizzy cap and fuel filter. engine model is ABF so has no mass air meter apparently. any ideas please help

Nope, no AMM/MAF-it is what is known as a speed density system using a throttle pot and MAP sensor. Try replacing the ECU relay first. This is number 30 on the relay plate at position 3 (top row, third from the left) and is available from a VW dealer under the part number 165 906 381 for £11.08.

thank you thank you thank you, has been driving me crazy for months fault didnt even show on computer when in the garage, put the new relay on yesterday and not a problem since, cheers
