Iv'e had my A1 1.4 TFSI (2011) now for 12 months and as a norm I switch off the auto start/stop. But when stuck in long traffic delays/town driving it is more environmentally friendly to have the auto stop in operation. My question is that the advice is that you should let the turbo cool down prior to switching off the engine, but with auto stop/start in operation this goes against that advice - or is there an inbuilt cooling system that overcomes this? This is just a general question, but if there was a cooling system when the auto stop operates then I possibly would use it more.

If you've been driving the car hard enough to actually get the turbo really hot the start/stop doesn't kick in

Hadn't thought of it from that direction - will try it out. Many thanks for the info.
