Hello,

Ive currently got 225 50 R17 on my A4 avant.
Im looking for new tyres and see that 225 45 R17 are cheaper (branded) than 225 50 R17 , would it affect much if i go for the 225 45 R17 instead of 225 50 R17 ? Yes i know it will affect little the speedometer about 3%, but will there be any other reasons why should or shouldnt go smaller?

Thanks!

Insurance as you're not using the correct size for the vehicle set out by the manufacturer.

According to the sticker on door says can use 225/50/R17 & 245/45/R17 & 225/55/R16 & many more different once from R16 to R18.

What i dont get is, why the Goodyears are 225 / 45 / R17 £66/£68 each and 225 / 50 / R17 are £86/88 each.

because they make far more of one size than they do another. same reason i run my 80 on 195 65 15 rather than 205 60 15.. save about 20 quid a corner and also have a far greater choice of tyre i can fit.

What brand tyres anyone uses? Been looking at Goodyear ones but just seen some Avon ZV7-s that offer same A grip in wet and C rolling resistance.
