Seems like for those without the sim card slot or Audi Connect services can get this retrofit to enable these features in your MMI. I wonder is it worth the cost for this upgrade. if it gives live traffic updates like it does on Google maps on your phone while navigating that would be pretty good i think

Scratch that, they only offer it as on on-site install option due to the comprehensive coding required. :(

God man Chris, i had yet to find a good DIY on how to do it, ill be looking into this for sure, and hopefully i can get it set up properly!

I got most of this coded and setup just need to test it outdoors with some 3g coverage and finalise the WLAN settings

I finally got this all working. So i now have Audi Connect and Google Earth maps with a non sim MMI 3GP unit. All for less than 50 euro :) I tried to get the online traffic enabled which should show traffic conditions overlayed on the maps, but i couldn't figure out how to activate the license yet. Hopefully its just a setting in the green menu i havent sorted.

I can post up the steps and parts needed for anyone interested
