Hi all,

Picked up my new (to me) A7 today.

Very pleased with it indeed, drives superb. Will have to go back in though, it has a vibration at 65mph & over so I guess wheel balance & wheel alignment will solve.

Anyway, it's a 2014 A7 3.0 245 black edition with a few extras like folding mirrors, MMI upgrade etc.

That's the same model that I bought last July, except mine is in Daytona Grey. You will love it!

Thanks all.

Yes, I was surprised by the big indoor reveal - fantastic service start to finish if I'm honest.

Loving the car thus far, 300 mile trip tomorrow [emoji1]

Thanks buddy, I'm definitely enjoying it. It's way quicker than I imagined if I'm honest!!!

I'm not new to quick cars, having had 328i's, 530, M3 etc but this feels amazing. Last car was a 15 plate E220 night edition so that may explain it [emoji1]

Noticed a vibration at around 75mph yesterday on the motorway. Took it back to Audi today for a wheel balance and they ended up ordering a new wheel as it was bent!!! £1000 for one wheel apparently. Ouch.

Kerbed a wheel this morning in the NCP car park I use for work, schoolboy error!!! Will need to get it fixed sharpish as I'm ****.

Looking forward to getting some VCDS done on the car, have a list of things that I need activated.

Car feels bigger than I hoped, maybe I just need to get used to it. It feels like a barge compared to the E Class.

Great car though, makes me smile, a lot.

better clipping it early, ive not ventured into a multi storey yet as im sure I would get it wedged, don't know how people do it! (my rotors are kerb free for now)

by far the biggest car ive owned and a courtesy A8 felt only a little bigger,

Yeah, glad I popped my cherry- thanks, you made me feel better.

Annoying thing, the alloys were perfect until I got behind the wheel. Not one kerb on my E Class in 2 years. Typical.

I have to use an NCP for work, and it's tight getting in & out. The spaces, if you choose wisely, aren't too bad though.

Oh Danny-boy, very nice! Lovely in white, Makes it look bigger! Its a wide car for sure, i live in an apartment complex with underground parking and it barely fits around some of the bends. One small scuff for me also. the first one is the hardest especially when the wheels are mint prior!

Indeed.

I think I'm going to get the wheel repaired and then have some Alloygators fitted.

Or maybe not the alloygators, seems they have pretty poor reviews.

I'll just get the wheel repaired and be more careful [emoji1]

Welcome, that's a nice looking A7. I had Alloygators fitted from new a year ago and they do take the edge of the attractiveness of the wheels. I've had the front ones refitted twice as they tend to stick out if you clip them against a kerb. I'm seriously considering taking them off after 12 mths / 15k, even though they've saved the front wheels from a few scrapes.

The ramps in old multi storey car parks are an issue for such a long & wide car, plus even modern car parks often have very tight entry lanes with safety kerbs that will take a big bite out of an alloy!

I have the parking assist but haven't used it yet - even if I did it wouldn't solve the challenges public car parks...

I wouldn't be keen on them on such a nice car! Once u get used to the width you will be safe. :)

Cheers both, yes I think I'll forget that idea for now.

Can't wait to get my alloy repaired but oddly seems nobody wants to do it. Contacted three and only one got back to me, and then started ignoring emails.

Pain!!!

Any pics of said damage? Maybe its down to the two tone colour of them wheels, not such an easy fix to get looking good. My wheels came refreshly refurbished and put a tiny nick on one of the rears, its annoying the hell out of me but no one else would notice it, just me!

No, I didn't take any as I was too upset [emoji1]

I'll take a pic tomorrow. Need to contact more people.

I'm at Audi for a new 21" rotor on Saturday, might just get them to do it.

I think the damaged edge might have a diamond cut finish which my be why no one wants to fix it. Its not that bad to be honest, but still annoying to you im sure!

I don't think it is diamond cut, looks just like smooth alloy.

Requested 3 more quotes this morning so we'll see what comes of those.

Nope, only one company called me back, only to say that they can't smart repair it and it's a "lose the car for a day" job [emoji30]

Yeah I guess I could mate but would have preferred a smart repair.

I'll look into it properly next week.

And today the Alloygator on one of my front wheel's peeled off at around 60 and the loose end flayed the wing paintwork in an arc around the wheelarch - I'm getting the rest of the Alloygators taken off and now have to sort out who's paying for the paintwork...

Nasty! Who fitted them to your car?

Corb2000
14-03-2017, 04:34 PM
One of the garages listed on the Alloygators website fitted them & they've refitted the front ones twice since first putting them on a year ago. The fitter assured me 'they won't come off' I've tried contacting Alloygators this morning but emails bounce back from their addresses and they're not answering the phone!

I'm hoping the paintwork can be done as a smart repair...

Welcome to the A7 club. I had an A6 with 20" Rotors for 2 1/2 years and only clipped one wheel in that time but the A7 with 21" Rotors I've done 4 times now this year. [emoji53]
I took out an Audi wheel insurance when I bought the car and they send a company out to do it on the drive.
They do look bigger in white though. [emoji1]
