Occasionally the radio and media functions won't start in the morning. In the past it has sorted itself out but today it won't. I've phoned the dealer and got an appointment for the end of the month, by which time no doubt it will be working again and they will just say: "Nuffink wrong wiv it!" However I'd like a more reliable radio fitted under warranty so I'll take the car along anyway.

I've read on another VW forum that the solution is to pull the fuse. Has anybody else had this problem and tried this? Which fuse is it and where is it?

Edit: went out to check at lunch time and sure enough, the damned thing is working again. Gaaaah!

When I was a regular on the Skoda Forum this seemed to crop up fairly regular. The most common answer was as you say, pull the fuse.

I think the fuses for the head unit are in the engine compartment fuse box and NOT those in the end of the dash.

I had this once on mine. Seems the radio turned itself off when I got out with the key still in my pocket.
Switched it off with the L/H rotary button and back on again and all was fine.
