i,m new to forums so excuse me if i waffle bit,i had my 97 a4 1600 for year now i need to do some work on steering column,does anyone know how to diable drivers air bag so i can remove steering wheel with out getting a face ful:1zhelp::confused:

Disconnect the battery, work very carefully and DO NOT turn on the ignition until you have put everything back together again.

Out of interest, can you disable the passenger airbag with VAGCOM? We've got a baby on the way and if we're going to use the car seat in the front then we need to disable the passenger airbags.

I'm in the opposite boat, needing to enable a disabled passenger one (octavia elegance). I looked on rosstech.com and it' just appears like a site of general serviding skedules/web searches. Any more info on vag-com disabling/enabling would be appreciated.

I know it's a long-shot, but there may be a keyhole for a key in the glovebox to disable the airbags. There is on my A6, sorry I'm not really much help on A4s.
