I own a 1991 Audi V8 Quattro and am need of some new front brake discs. I am having a nightmare of a time trying to find replacements. Every supplier I try sends me the wrong ones, the only correct ones I can find are direct from Audi for £300 a set!!

Has anyone else had trouble obtainng these discs or does anyone know of anywhere I can try?

Thanks

I may be able to assist, what has been the problem with the discs you have been supplied?

The V8's 310-mm discs are a very unusual design and the part number 441 615 283 S is only available genuine as far as I can establish even though they were made by ATE, they don't list them. Plenty of companies, including ATE, list the pads.

Ahh, are these the ones where the pads work upside down? the discs look like "dustbin lids":)

Yep, very odd.

Yes those, are the discs, very different to anything I keep being supplied. I guess I will have to buy through Audi then.

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried VAG Parts, or Euro Car Parts to see if they can get them?

Its unlikely that they'll have'em couse they sound very rare. But have you tried www.blackdiamondperformance.com (http://www.blackdiamondperformance.com) or even EBC? Do you know if the disc's were fitted to other cars (in or outside of the VAG Group)?

a8tec might know summit?

click 'vehicles' then 'Audi' and then 3rd from bottom in left column?

Not sure if this is a start or not? If you keep clicking it takes you to other stuff about the brakes. Seems to be the rears tho? Good luck! ;)

Try the last 4 at the bottom of the page, but is the mm size incorrect?

I have the full Tec Doc and the part number isn't listed. If you look it up directly Tec Doc only lists front and rear pads and rear discs. I know Chris at Black Diamond very well and he doesn’t do those discs. I asked him if he could treat a genuine set to his process many years ago and he said they wouldn't be able to mount them on the machinery.

Thanks for those links, unfortunately their not the right ones. I have tried Euro Car Parts and they claim to have the correct discs although am waiting confirmation by picture that they actually are the discs I require! (a lot of suppliers "claim" to stock them then send me regular a8 discs!).
I may try to US suppliers to see if they will ship to UK.

Thanks

Where did you get that picture?

I found it from a US suppliers website. Awaiting a reply from them to see if they will ship to the UK as far cheaper than buying direct from Audi here in UK.

Thanks for the link, although not entirely sure I agree with PaulW's reply!! They don't suck, apart from the size/weight and lack of availability they work brilliantly!
Anyway, have ordered a set from Euro car parts as they confirmed them to be the correct ones so all is good!
Thanks for your help.

Would you let us know how you got on with your brakes, how much/delivery times and the make etc?

Thanks,

Sneaky

Yes the ones I got delivered from Euro Car Parts turned out to be the correct ones. They were slightly more than the ones the guys on tyresmoke.net found but unfortunatley I had already ordered them! To return them I would have had to pay the return postage which would pretty much have negated any cost savings I would have made! never mind, they were delivered next day and I have fitted them now so all is good!
They are the same make as the ones in that ebay link you posted, I believe these are genuine Audi parts, I dont think any one else makes them.

Thanks for your help!
