My iPhone 6 is paired with the car , after saying the command "Hey Siri" , the telephone calls itself via Bluetooth and shows that I am connected to my phone on the green telephone menu , is this correct ?

Any help would be much appreciated

Yes that's correct. The phone doesn't call itself, it just opens a connection using your cars Bluetooth so you can utilise the voice controls.

You can also just hold down the voice command button on the steering wheel to also activate/call up Siri.
