Hi all,
I recently had a brake switch/and or relay failure which local garage fixed - was preventing car starting and causing all other types of alarms. cleared all alarms and after it all worked except sat nav. Have tried many soft resets and disconnected battery for a bit but still not picking up satellites - was working before fine. Pretty certain it is s/w related as also crashes when you select a destination.
Car is a Sept 2012 a7 3l TDi
software version is RMC_EU_P11311

Where is the sat nav unit located - it has a memory card for the maps in the dash.
Wanted to check the sat receiver cable hadn't come off or something.

Any more ideas welcome as it is driving me mad.
thanks

I think there was a case of this happening regularly a while back. Caused by the shark fin failing and needing to be replaced.

The Nav unit is in the dash where the SD cards go.

Thanks for the reply.
I've read all the posts previously which seem to be a little older about the receivers failing - not many recently. I am fine with getting a new receiver and plugging it in - any idea how I get to the back of the unit to connect it ? Is it the glove box out or the panel under the steering column ?
I'll take it back in to the garage tomorrow and get him to put it on the diagnostics before I pull anything out I think

I think it's a case of taking off the trim the surrounds the central console which reveals the screws that hold the nav unit in place

Hi, I took the glove box out and you can see the back of the MMI - I couldnt see the sat-nav wires going in anywhere.
I need to see where it plugs in so I can plug a replacement one in to see if that works. Any ideas welcome.
I also noticed that the shark fin is a little lose so it could well be that. From other threads it looks like it is held on from the inside with a bolt, but needs the headlining dropping. Anyone any ideas on that ?
