Hello everyone

First post on here. Hope you can help.

Ive got a 2004 TDI with a central locking problem.

When you go to lock the car using the fob all the doors click/clunk - the indicators flash and the red flashing security light starts flashing. However all the doors dont actually lock.
If you lock the drivers door with the key all the doors click/clunk - the indicators flash and so does the red flashy light - the drivers door locks but all the others remain unlocked.

Any advice?

****THINGS IVE CHECKED SO FAR******
Wiring between A-pillar and door on both passenger and driver front doors - all ok, no breaks.
Removed the outer door skin and the inner door card to check wiring to connectors. All ok.

Thanks very much

Just to add - the lock/unlock button on the inside of the drivers door doesnt do anything either. All doors just click/clunk but dont lock

You need to do a code scan of the doors and central convienience system to see what is stored, print/save these codes (this is important) the go around the car opening, closing, locking etc and then do a re-read, this will give you a very clear picture of what is required. It is not unusual for me to have to replace all four door lock units on a Golf 5.

Thanks for your reply.

Codes are:

Divers Door
01552 Malfunction in Circuit
00928 Implausible Signal

Passenger Door (front)
01553 Malfunction in Circuit
00929 Implausible Signal

I clear the codes - go round the car locking/unlocking - opening and closing doors

same codes come back

If the door shut wires are not split then that is pretty much certainly going to be two faulty lock units.
