Had our 58 plate GT sport diesel since March, and ever since we got it , it's sounded like a bag of spanners on cold start up...really rough and vibey, then after a minute or two it's fine..,.

it's been back to the main dealers twice now...and I also mentioned it seemed to 'stumble' occasionally on a constant throttle at 30 mph..

anyway...they said the manifold was leaking, and put a new one on...but it's still rough and lumpy on a cold start up....If it's normal fine, but if not I'd like it sorted while its still under warranty....

Anyone have the same thing?

ta  Ps..One post wonder. :biglaugh: Will try to remedy that :banghead:

Even in warm weather?

Not quite so bad in warm weather... But this morning for instance, felt like the whole car was shaking when it started.. By the time I'm 100 yards down the road it settles down

Any codes?
I would change the the glow plugs and coolant temp sensor.

No codes.. looks like it will have to go back to VW .. trouble is they will need it overnight so they get to start it cold.. annoying when it will be the third time they've had it

I would take it elsewhere.

I would take it elsewhere.

I see your point... it's just annoying that I paid a main dealer premium for it, and got a 2 year VW warranty and it's still not resolved :zx11:

well, bit the bullet and booked it back in (yet again) with the main dealer on 6th December.... they're having it overnight to get the full 'bag of spanners' effect on start up ....

Well it went in to VW, they kept it 2 days then rang me and said ' the technician noticed the roughness on startup, and the shaking... But he couldn't find anything wrong'

So I asked to speak to the tech...and pointed out that I got the car with a 2 year warranty descrbed as 'good as a new car warranty' then asked him if he'd be happy if his new car was doing that'. Reply was 'Er....no'

he then admitted he thought there was a fuelling problem, probably related to the injectors..but as the weather had warmed up there was not much he can do until it got cold again, and he could stick his diagnostics thingumy on the car as it starts.

so the result of the phone call was that VW are keeping the car until They can sort out the issue, and I've got to slum it with the courtesy car....a 66 plate Polo TSI ...... .. I asked them to let me have the car back fully sorted before the warranty ran out in March 2018 :naughty:

They've had it over two weeks now....got a call from them to say that they have tested it every morning, and found a 'slight fault in two of the injectors' and they will be replacing them under the warranty...so hopefully that will sort it

They had it from 5th to 29th Dec, said there was a fault with two injectors... got them replaced on the warranty.
It's now worse than it was before.. starts second time when below zero, and feels like it's missing even more than it did before. Now it's booked back in on 18th for them to try again. Thinking of telling them to have it back and I'll have something else off the forecourt.. how many attempts to fix it do you give them?

Until its fixed i think. All injectors probably need changing. Get firm with them.

When I re-booked it in yesterday the service rep did say he was surprised they only changed two....then said it was probably because the warranty would only cover the two that they'd found a problem with....

I may go and get an audience with the dealer principal tomorrow.......:(

Bull **** warranty covers only 2. Warranty covers everything. They should have changed all 4. Tell them your putoff the car.

Thanks Atif...I plan on visiting them tomorrow and suggesting they take it back and I choose something else off the plot....it's getting tiresome as I'm not that local to the dealership

Decided to hold off until they've had one last chance when it is booked in next Wednesday. I'll tell them then that if its not fixed I intend to reject the vehicle.....on the Which site there's a bit where you put the details in, and it produces a letter with all the legal jargon in it...so I'll be using it if I get no joy.

Hi Atif....it went back in last Wednesday....and they are querying the injectors, the loom and the Dual Mass Flywheel.....and are keeping it until they A) sort it or B) don't..in which case I've told them I'll be rejecting the car and asking for a refund.....

the service reception guy will ring me when there's an answer either way. Got another 66 plate polo as a courtesy car in the meantime....which looked like it had been occupied by a family wearing muddy wellies..it was filthy :zx11:

Just had a call , and they say that the juddering is the DMF... and there are further injector issues with at least one injector....so they've ordered a DMF and injectors, and I mentioned that the clutch ought to be done at the same time... and they said that they have ordered a clutch too...and will be discussing that with the sales dept, so they can pay if the warranty won't cover it...... ( funny they didn't mention they'd ordered a clutch until I brought it up :Blush2:

So...another month has gone by, and I'm still in the courtesy car...now into the seventh week....and the last I heard was that I'd get a call 'next Monday' that'll be nearly two weeks ago. :aargh4:

Ws told on Monday that they'd about sorted it..and needed a couple more days to make sure it was good... But that they were not changing the remaining two injectors as they were fine...
further call this morning..still a slight judder on startup, so they were going to replace the remaining two injectors...and they are on back order from Germany ....

so this afternoon I had a meeting with the sales manager and told him I don't want it back....so he's started the ball rolling for rejecting the car.
