2007 3.0 V6

Went to start the car today, got a flashing glow plug light and a workshop message. I've popped to my mates garage and there is a huge list of faults. But when they're erased, they come straight back, even those that I can't imagine it can get without the engine running.

05121 EGR Valve (N18) Short to ground P1401 Upper limit reached
08200 Intake Manifold Flap Bank 1 Electrcical Malfunction P2008 No Signal/No Communication
08209 Intake Manifold Flap Bank 2 Electrcical Malfunction P2008 No Signal/No Communication
13128 Control Circuit for Controller for Turbocharger 1 (J724) : Electrical malfunction P3348 Mechanical Malfunction
04249 Intake Manifold Runner Control Electrical Malfunction P1099 Upper Limit Reached
12421 Control Circuit for Intake Manifold Tuning (Bank 2) Electrical Malfunction P3085 Upper Limit Reached
09255 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooling Valve Control Circuit Short to Plus P2427 Upper limit Reached
13128 Control Circuit for Controller for Turbocharger 1 (J724) : Electrical Malfunction P3348 Open Circuit/Short With Ground

I'm struggling to understand how all these fault could occur in one go, when the car was fine yesterday, unless they all share a common bit of loom or something?

Any Help greatly appreciated, I've looked at the fault codes in isolation, but I'm not sure they are correct, ie I don't think I have all these faults, moreover a common fault that links to them all.

Welcome to VWAF :)

Are your brake lights on constantly?

No

No

OK.

It's definitely electrical as you've guessed.

Assuming there was biblical rain in Cumbria over the weekend as per the rest of the country, pop the bonnet and check the plenum area for any standing water.

You can clear the drains, if they are blocked, by removing the front wheel arch liner and pulling the rubber drain bungs.

Put a new battery on. As I was reading 9v. Now it turns over. But won't start. All faults still present. Also I e noticed my fan is on all the time.

Sounds like a short. Most likely water ingress.
Do what was suggested.

When you say plenum do you mean near the wipers where the ecu is sat?

No standing water. In plenum area.

I can't understand how I went from a bunch of faults and a slightly flat battery. To a full new battery and a car that just turns over.

Are there any new faults now you've changed the battery?

Ok I've found a blown fuse. 10amp no42 I think. Replaced it. All my faults have gone. But still won't start?

It was the one in the plenum area. As soon as I replaced it I was able to clear the faults. A little sniff of brake cleaner in the air intake and it sprang into life. It's running fine now, no faults.
