Just purchased a 2003 Passat estate and it has failed its mot on both rear lower control arm inner bush excessive movement.

do BOTH lower arms have the different sizes in taper? 16mm and 20mm? Or is it just the front lower arms that have the different tapers?

I can't find any correct part numbers for the Passat lower control arms. A lot of the straight (front lower) arms have a note against them stating 20mm but I can't find any info on the rears.

Any help would be much appreciated. Car is an AWX 1.9tdi.

Cheers,

Dan

>2002 8E0 407 693/4 Q and 2003>2005 8E0 407 693/4 AG, make sure it is definitely a wvwzzz3Bz3??????? VIN car. We only fit Febi.

Many thanks. The vin does indeed start with wvwzzz3Bz3.........

With the FEBI arms, I've noticed there are discontinued and current arms.

21196 and 21198 are 'new implementations'
11351 and 11352 are 'old implementations'

Is there any real difference between the two apart from the prices?

Many thanks,

Dan

EDIT: I've ordered the newer 21196 and 21198 arms.

You need 21196 and 8 which are equivalent to 8E0 407 693/4 AG, personally I would use the 33365 and 33366 pro kits which I do for £70 IF FEBI had the 33366 in stock!

I have ordered 21196/8.

33366 and 33365 were priced differently. I would expect them to be the same as they are mirrored parts are they not?

Hopefully new arms here wednesday then I need to get them fitted for the MOT. Will replace the rest next year. I need to fit a full set on my S8 which I'm looking forward to! lol

Dan

New Arms won't fit.

Removed Arms from hub, appear to be original Audi parts. No part numbers anywhere to cross reference only the Audi logo and the letters DE.

Here is a pic of the arm ball joint that is much bigger than the Febi arms I have....
32066

Does that sleeve remove from the taper part or do I have the wrong Arms?

Cheers.

OK, bit more research shows that it's a sleeve on the knuckle. Very difficult to remove. Both sides have done this.

Had a look at an online etka and there is no image of this part. Anyone know a part number so I can order another pair?

Cheers.

Just looking, had to start up my PC instead of ipad and AVG has decided it is time to bombard me with messages and tune up my PC and it won't shut the **** up!

Just needed to check. T|he sleeve is only available with the complete upright, you cannot buy it as a spare parts so must be recovered form the old joint, we use the hot spanner.

Many thanks Crasher. Just my luck lol.
I'll take them to work this morning and see what the fitter can do to remove them. Will keep you posted.

Get the oxy on them, gently though, no oxidising hot spots.
