could anyone tell me the correct gapping on spark plugs for a vw polo 2003 reg?

between 0.9mm and 1mm, think it's 1mm on the NGKs it comes with

It isn't a good idea to gap them, change them.

well yes, GSF will charge about £2.50 a plug. I just thought as the OP wanted the gapping I'd give them the gapping ;)
