For some reason Audi have seen fit to not install voice recognition on the 2017 facelift A3 Cabriolet when it is available on the other models in the range. It seriously compromise the effectiveness of the MMI. You can't even activate Siri in CarPlay mode.

I can can only suppose they are concerned about wind and road noise in the cabriolet. With the roof up I can't see what the problem is.

Any one one know of a way to retro fit or enable this?

If it's like any other of the cabriolet models then it can be enabled with VCDS as it's just a coding change and the hardware is already present.

Any suggestions on how or where to get this done please?

So I've found a work around. With the Hey Siri feature enabled on the iPhone, when it is connected via the lightening cable and in CarPlay mode you can then use this to wake Siri and use voice commands through the Audi MMI to control the CarPlay applications. Only drawback is that you do have to lift the arm rest so that the phone can hear your "hey siri".
