Enable voice commands

Hello all. My first post here, although I've been posting on the Q7 section of the site for a while (got an SQ7 on its way - can't wait!).

Anyway, I have a B8 Passat, 150 GT, manual saloon. I didn't order the voice control option but I have the button which mutes the audio but also gives me a message saying that I can buy a key to activate it. Just wondering if there's any other (free!) way of getting it going...will OBDEleven or VAGCOM do the trick? Anyone done it?

I did have a quick trawl through the posts to see if this had been discussed - apologies if I've missed it.

I wouldn't bother, I find it slower and more laborious than actually pushing the relevant button. I only use two functions: Navigate Home and Call Mailbox to check my voicemail.

I agree with Matt - it's really clunky and nowhere near as good as the voice commands I had on my old A4 (and even that was pretty poor!).

Thanks folks - sounds like way more hassle than it's worth so I'll leave it alone!
