Anyone has any idea how to improve MPG . Mainly im doing work/home runs of 5 miles

after 5 miles the poor engine will be at about the temperature where it will start working properly and give descent mpg. you could get a pushbike and use that instead, that will see a big increase in mpg. you could get a small petrol engined car that will warm up quicker and give more mpg anyway. either way, you have the wrong car to do a 5 mile commute.

then accept the lower mpg you will get. i take it the poor beast gets a good blast at least once a week. due to short journeys you need to change the engine oil more often.

No. Traffic is not bad at all . Smooth journey at 30-40 mph

I would expect a bit more tbh. Tyre pressures? Brakes binding?
Any other issues? That age 3.0 TDi is prone to fuel injector issues.

No issues at all . Im gonna try premium diesel next time and see how far i can get

So just to update . I did 150 miles motorway journey averaging 70-80mph and ...

and i bet at 60-70 you could get 55 mpg, so nothing wrong there.

try it.. once over 50-60 mph wind resistance starts playing a much more major role in things. my s4 will sit at 55 doing 36 mpg. at 70- 80 its down to 22.
