Hi whats the best Bluetooth to get that can be wired into the existing telephone switch on the centre console of a audi A6 2007 2.0l tdi. it has the switch there and button on steering wheel but not sure it works as it comes up with phone unavailable when I try to pair my phone with it

If the MMI is telling you the phone is unavailable, other posts suggest you don't have phone prep.

Do you know which MMI you have?
