Not sure this is the best forum for this, but I know the Q7 forum has some active CarPlay users. I've searched a fair bit but have been unable to get a definitive answer on whether the iPod touch (5th or 6th generation) works with CarPlay? Obviously it would need to get it's internet connectivity by being connected to the car Wi-Fi, or another device.

If anyone has CarPlay support in their vehicle and iPod touch they could test it would be much appreciated.

The reason I ask is that I have typically had an iPod touch (permanently installed under the centre console) loaded with all my music etc for offline playback, just wondering if in our new Q7 if this will be via the normal Audi music player, or via CarPlay.

Thanks!

Unfortunately you need an iPhone 5 or newer for CarPlay CarPlay - Apple (UK) (http://www.apple.com/uk/ios/carplay/)

Hi, yeah, I have seen that -- but there is some discussion on the internet that it may work anyway, particularly with the 6th generation which has the A8 processor (same as the iPhone 5S).

Has anyone tried a touch and can prove one way or the other?

I would doubt it as it seems to be down to iOS detecting the device its on e.g doesn't work on iPads and there's no carplay options in settings
