Build week 42

Finally got my build week through, looking at week 42, mid-October:

Does this date tend to jump around a lot before it stabilises? From what I've seen on here on other threads, delivery to the dealer is about a month after the build date...?

Progress! Mine took 18 days from the first day of the build week to being at the dealers. It jumped around a fair bit for me. Initially BW was mid-April then went out to end of June before settling down at the first week of May.

Build weeks may have been pushed out due to a shortage of advanced keys :D

It could move about a week or so still but will lock out around wk38. Then if anything like my two Qs three weeks within build it'll be sitting waiting for you to collect!!

Currently we are on wk 27 I think.

It has stabilised now, it was week 42 but it came forward to week 37 about a fortnight ago. I ordered on 14 June. Not sure what lead times are on a non-S model.

I think the actual order was placed a few days after it was released, but at the time it was only visible on the Audi app, it was still "coming soon" on the Audi website. I'd been bugging Audi for AGES about when I could order or so they were quite good at keeping me updated!

I can't remember ever being thsi excited about a car...

From what my dealer is telling me current wait for a factory order is over 5 months. Mine will be that once it arrives. Just jumped to build week 38 and ordered in April. I did think I was getting palmed off but I have an agreed price on my trade in so its in their interests to get it as soon as poss. Obviously some dealers will have amendable slots that they would be selling so could be quicker.

Nemo, broker put me in touch with the dealer, so tats all the input they had. Coast2Coast i think was the name.
I have very little options added, reversing came and black roof rails are all I stretched to. I will be blacking out the car myself. I can't see those options being too difficult to come across ?

The cheapest prices from broker were all quoting December, whilst the one I am using quoted October, I hope he wasn't bullshitting !

I would hope to have the car by 29 October based on current build week 39 (mid-Septmeber) and was going to try to get to the meet if it was in the Lake District but I think I saw on the meet thread that it's going to be much further south...not sure I could make that fly with 'er in doors!

I'd have thought it would've hit the panel shop or whatever the stage post prep is today...

From memory both mine had gone in to QC on build date I.e. The Monday quoted.

Literally goes from Prep to Panel Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly (literally one day in each and yes I may have got the names of stages wrong) but then in to QC for a few days.

Your Audi updated daily around so whenever I checked around 7-8am it had been updated and moved a stage


Just go in to the background data and see if the dates moved or anything

Snap, I went for SE too.

Well for me the slot has allocated and didn't see much movement (as I took over another order the dealer had for one of their planned showroom cars). so I knew the construction date since beginning of May and no movement since (although the car is being built this week).

Think others have seen some movement in their dates if you change your spec or in general others have simply come forward (like Gyro's) so its a case of wait and see

Ordered mine in April and there has been some movements on my dates. Finally settled on Sept 12th after going out as far as Oct. Thought initially I could handle the wait but really struggling now. Overall the timescale is about a month over what I originally hoped for.

I suspect the feed that links the website to their system broke! I found it updated daily through that period and all my updates were between midnight and 5am with most being between midnight and 2am. I didn't keep a record of the times but here were my order status updates - you can see mine never registered at Emden so I was left thinking it was stuck waiting for a train and then it popped up on the boat!

This may be a silly question, but how do you see this "background data" in the youraudi website? My order is progressing through but all I see is the main screen with a drop down for each of the stages (currently at stage 7 quality control and has been there for a couple of days now).

I have installed the youraudi app onto my phone as well, but that only shows current cars (so is currently not much use as I am currently in a BMW and not much point putting my wife's Q3 into it!)

It is an agonising wait, with my wife getting frustrated with my constant checking on the youraudi site - and updating her where my car is in the build process (she is comparing it to the pizza tracker with dominos pizza!)

If u look behind the scenes u may find its a step ahead than what it reports on youraudi mine was on status 30. (Left Bratislava yet was showing quality control). Today jumped to 36 in emden but only shows in transit left Bratislava on your Audi. Just waiting for it to get on a ship

Should be fairy quick on the ship. Looking at the schedules to Grimsby there's a lot of trips benign made between emden to Grimsby (to meet the new Sep registrations I think). Next trip out from emden to Grimsby is the 22nd so if u get to stage 38 (read to be shipped) before then it'll be on that trip. Mine is on 39 and due to dock into Grimsby today. Then onto Dundee I'll keep u posted on timings

I'm a little confused about the wait times for the Q7. I'm trying to work things so I time delivery with handing my current car back at the end of February '17. Local dealer is quoting 5 months from order to delivery so this would work out nicely. I contacted some of the brokers who told me to get in touch after 1/10/16 because orders placed now are based on Q3 deals for delivery in Q4 and since I wanted a Q1 2017 delivery I would need to order at the start of Q4. They said that Q7 orders from last week are getting a build date for late October which seems very quick compared to what folks here are quoting.

Agree with nemo I was waiting for well over three months to even get the order accepted by Audi. Even then it's not guaranteed as I was initAlly told August before I place my order when I got to Jun had to escalate to get one of the dealers slots as was told that delivery was most likely to be end of September. I placed my order through a broker and noticed they were less accommodating in giving up one of their pre allocated dealer slots as effectively their making less margin because u went through a broker so beware.

I was speaking with my dealer this week and his words were that they just can't get any Q7s from the factory until next year. Their next slot was build week 7 2017. They even had a customer walk in and buy their showroom car after 2 days of being in there at full list, no discount because the customer didn't want to wait that long.

Mine was ordered in April, should be getting it end Sept. So mine will be nearly 6 months.

Agree with Papereyes, be careful with Brokers. You'll definitely not get any preference with the dealer. Use the broker price to get the best discount possible through your dealer.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm up with the dealer again in about 10 days. He's not very forthcoming with the deal he has in mind and had just added in £2000 discount to play around with figures. I'm sure this is just the Audi UK discount since that's what's added automatically on the online calculator. Will need to see where I can get to coming up to end of quarter.

I was quoted 5 months in December so planned everything around that, then was told the car would be ready by the end of March. Needless to say the dealer had a storage problem until the end of May as that was what was agreed.
If they quote a delivery date that is what is agreed and the dealer will honour the date even if he has the car hanging about for a couple of months. Its a different case if he hasn't got the car as such I would always make sure the margin is flexible enough to meet your needs.
I would add the frustration knowing your car is ready sat there just waiting for you to wash it.

That would be my worry if waiting until October to place an order. I don't mind if the car comes early but if I'm aiming to pick up at the start of March and there's a 4 week delay then I'm going to get hit by the extra car tax from April.

On a general note I still find your Audi is delayed compared to the dealers, mine is still showing status 40 arrived at uk port, whereas my dealer has said its now 60 which is transportation up to him. Just checked now to see if it updated.

Ignore the timestamps, for some reason on the 11th it started forward dating all the next stages from 21 - 24, but on youraudi it showed it was in QC Stage 24 on the 11th.
Flying up to Dundee on Friday to collect so nice roadtrip down.

No formal checklist as such, just common sense stuff. I usually have a copy of my order and check all the options I've bought are there and working. Also check wheels haven't been kerbed (biggest ever bugbear!). Check lights, brake lights, indicators, radio etc. Usually I'm too excited to pay much attention!

Definitely add the speed camera POI's. I recommend doing the additional bit where you edit the categories.pc file to change all 5 or 6 entries to zoomlevel max="30" so that the icons are more visible on either display when you zoom out on the maps.

Handover checklist! What sad git would do that! Well, actually I did :( I had good reason though! Nearly got burnt a few years ago when i realised default options were missing on my wife's X1 - luckily, although 6 months old with 20k on the clock, BMW built a new one and took the hit!

Here's screenshots of my checklist, i did a quick confirm that the option appeared to be there and then over the next few days actually tested each one worked. Only issue two issues I had were the microphones and the plastic trim on the threshold for the rear doors.

I'm still at stage 20 despite yourAudi telling me my build will start on Monday 29 August. Got the dealer to look into in and apparently it is going through the various construction processes now, so, happy days, but I'm a few weeks away from picking the car up!
