Hello again
Thought I'd share a small tip...
Anyone out there brave enough to try this?

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME FREE SPACE IN FRONT OF YOUR CAR, DON'T DO THIS IN YOUR DRIVEWAY!!!

Start engine
switch off ESP
press Brakes with LEFT foot
engage S (NOT D) in gear
press the accelerator with your right foot (revs will go up to 4000?)
release the left foot....

report here.... :yikes:

If you have the HUD, enable the Latimer and use the paddle shift. It gives you shift up light in the HUD.

Ok...
Didn't know that...
I have the VC and the HUD and paddles...
Will try to find an empty enough supermarket parking to give that a go...
thanks

Remember that the number of launches you do is logged by the ECU and this number will be taken into account should you have any engine or transmission failure within your warranty period.

Blimey!!!
Didn't know that either...
Next thing will be AUDI ringing me up offering an extended warranty because my car has been flagged up as reaching its maximum amount of allowed launches....
Think i want the old 4L back ;)
thanks nevetheless

My wife is making me bring stuff in to work to 'save money' so I don't even have lunch control at the moment. It probably won't try this as it might be taking it too far

Yes it is logged but as it is a feature of the car it would be like saying you have used the air conditioning too much so when a part fails stuff you too.
I believe it is only the Nissan GTR that states in the manual you have a limited amount of launches.

Ok. That makes sense Gavin...
although I didn't try anything today as its all wet outside, plus work commitments made me grounded.
maybe next week...

I gave this a go earlier and blimey, it certainly takes off! I think I hit 50mph before I realised that it had worked!

This is the procedure I followed:
- ensured car temps up to normal
- find safe quiet road!
- stop the car with steering straight
- put the car in dynamic mode with sport mode
- press and hold the esp button for about 5 seconds (two stages)
- press the brake peddle hard and keep it pressed
- floor the accelerator and the engine will Rev but not into the red
- release the brake and keep accelerator pinned!

Probably not something to do on a regular basis but good to see how quick she can move.

The VW group do use the launch counter in events of transmission issues.
