Please can anyone help!
I have recently purchased a 2005 A6 Avant Quattro, fitted with 235/40/R18 tyres but all the tyre checker sites i have used say either 245 o 240?
would also appreciate any recommendations for a quiet tyre.

Hi I have an a6 c7 sline and it has 245 / 45 / 18 tyres on it , I've just changed my tyres as they had Dunlop sport tyres on it and they were noisy as hell so I did some research and found great reviews about a cheap Chinese tyre called jinyu yu61 !
I had my Audi serviced at an Audi specialist and they had a stack of these near the front door which was a coincidence so I ask him about them and he said they are great tyres and better then a lot of premium brands so I had all 4 fitted for £220 !!!!
My car is quiet and the tyres handle great cant fault them and even if they only last a year which I think they will last a lot longer then I will put a new set on each year at that price , a nice new set ready for winter at that price ! Also they look great they don't look budget at all

There should be a sticker on your drivers door saying which tyre sizes are suitable. For noise, if you go on some of the tyre sites, they give a dB rating. A 3dB increase is about double the noise so 70dB is ok but 76 would be noisy. Also lots of other factors such as road surface but at least you can compare like for like. I like Michelin as they wear well and are great in the wet (which seems to be all the time!)

Doh, I just asked this question in another thread and herein lies the answer I was looking for...
