Does anyone know if MY16 cars can get an MMI upgrade for this?

If they do it will be a cost upgrade. It's already available on the Q7 and I've not seen any retrofit threads as yet.

Audi are not well known for dealer fit retrofitting!

I asked the Audi service manager last time I was there (March) whether the smartphone interface could be installed via an MMI upgrade, especially as there did not seem to be any new hardware involved. He went away to find out and came back with the disappointing (but expected) news that Audi were not planning on this being available as a software upgrade and would only be available on new platforms as they get rolled out across all of the Audi range. Not definitive advice but that is what I got back when asked.
