Fitting Halo rings into my headlight mk4 golf

Hi... I purchased some halo rings off of ebay. To fit them i need to take my headlight apart (remove the front plastic to view the light) I have taken the headlight out and tryed heating it like they said..but the mastik does not seem to be coming apart....Has any one fitted halo rings before??
