View Full Version : Which Colour?

Hi guys, I'm about to order my Q7, and this forum has been brilliant in helping me make my mind up about things, and learning about the car, so thank you!

However the one thing I cannnot make my mind up on and I'm going around in circles trying to decide, is the colour. I know it's very subjective, but I'd love to hear your views, and what you ordered, and ideally photos

I had decided on the Daytona Grey, but then thought perhaps Graphite Grey looks better. Then once I've decided it's between those two, I start wondering about the Sepang Blue again, which is where I started when I first decided to buy the Q7!

I've seen them all in the flesh, but not side by side which may have helped! (and sometimes I think the Ink Blue would look good, although not seen one)

Arghhhh

Welcome to the forum and you'll find we all have our views on colour as per one of the other threads!
Whichever colour you choose make sure you're happy with.

I went Daytona and am happy with it.

Sepang is great and I would've gone for it but at the time i got my car I couldn't see one in the flesh.

Graphite Grey is also nice and better set off on some of the two tone wheels

Here is a tip I used, as you cannot see all cars in all colours at a dealership. I went to the Audi UK site, searched for used cars and filtered on the current Q7, once done you will see a variety of colours, spec and wheel combinations to give you a better idea.

I've gone for the Sepang Blue, most car orders seems to be grey, black or white but Sepang is rare in comparison. Don't forget there is the new Garnet red which is on the SQ7 if you look around for images/youtube but its an Audi Exclusive paint so a bit more expensive.

Just been through the "Sepang or Daytona" dilemma myself and I've plumped for Sepang. Saw an S Line in Sepang up close the other day and it looks magnificent...I've not seen a Daytona one in the flesh yet though. That Garnet Red that Bathurst mentioned is stunning in the pictures but you can forget it at £2,155! I'll stick with Sepang which is still a great colour.

Happy with my Daytona and when I collected, dealer had a graphite grey in the showroom. Quite a subtle difference but Daytona is darker

The garnet red looks amazing, but Sepang Blue is definitely a looker.

Then I love Datona grey... and white with the black styling pack

or do a me and wrap it. lol

Edit: I just realised this post doesnt help you at all. Sorry!

I use the same showroom as srbsq7 and looked at the same car. On YouTube etc the Graphite looked great but in the flesh had a brown tinge. I travelled around local dealers to view colours in the flesh. Saw Daytona and went for it, no regrets.

No regrets on he colour too. When I saw that one though, it had the 21" wheels which i'd nearly gone for which i do still somewhat regret!!

For me when I saw the 21" titanium wheels on the demo that they had I was sold. I was not a huge fan of the new Q7 looks at first until I saw one with those wheels. Wheels can make a car. Needless to say now I love the look of the Q.

I originally wanted Sepang blue but at the time it was more expensive and the other half talked me out of it saying it might be too bright on a big car.

I settled for Daytona grey and liked it alot. Had problems with my original Q7 and the courtesy car they gave me was florret silver. Over the time I had the courtesy car I fell in love with the silver (also looked cleaner for longer) and when they couldn't fix mine I opted for florret silver on the replacement which is due next week!

Sorry, but that config photo is the same spec as mine, please don't hate me if you see me driving mine with the 21s. We are both local so the chances are high..... Ha ha. I'll happily switch them to the SQ7 22s if that will make you feel better.....

Don't hate me if you get back from the shops to find the 20" wheels on you car ;-)

There is a good chance of crossing paths. Looking forward to seeing them on a Daytona with black pack.

There is no way I would have been allowed to get lower profile wheels as ride quality was the family requirement. I got to add all the tech so can't complain really.

I'm probably more miffed about the long days at the moment as haven't really seen the ambient / matrix lights on a proper run. Bring on winter!!

Had a Daytona one first and now got an orca black one. I prefer the black but it's a swirl magnet. Daytona is better for not showing marks but imho doesn't look as smart as the black.

Yeah it's amazing in comparison. Not just the ride (which is still great on fantastic on springs - I think we both test drove the same silver s-line?), but the quality, sound insulation and lack of rattles.

Worth the wait!

I first order nugaro blue but held up my Order big time I just hate pulling up at a car park and there is loads of the same colour lol

but in the end went sepang blue since I've had my car I have seen one the same but had different wheels phew lol

sepange looks great and loads of people comment how nice it is

it does show dust dirt and water marks bad then when it rains looks bad and the dead bugs but keep it clean and your be really pleased and glad you got it but most colors are like that mind
last car was black that didn't show the bugs and the grey is good all rounder

best colour to look clean is silver but not so popular these days but won't need cleaning so much

white looks nice don't show dust but shows bugs and not to good in winter with salt

the new sq7 red will look nice when clean but dust and winter will look bad and need cleaning

guess like above have a look about Audi uk eBay quite a few colors look different in different lights pearl for one
sepange looks different on a dull day to a sunny day

apart from looks fav colour etc will it stand loads drive on country roads and how much you like cleaning

im sure what ever you choose your be happy with

just my thinking

Can you amend your order to have the style pack? Only about £200 more and you'll get the running boards as well. The pack contains pano roof, ambient lighting and running boards...

I did think long and hard about that, but I 'm just not convinced I like the running boards . In the end I played safe - I can always retro fit them (although at more cost) but I cannot remove the factory fitted ones without damage if I hate them! I realise it's not cost effective but ... In an ideal world I would have ordered the style pack and just asked them not to fit the boards, but just to supply them. Don't think they can do this though.

Great spec - very similar to mine. I'm with you on the running boards, not a fan but perhaps need to see them in person.

A bit pricey but did you rule out Bose upgrade. I recall some with the standard speakers regret not ticking the box.

I like the spec, I have ordered many of the same toys for mine. I would be very interested to know what build week you have been given. I ordered mine late Apr/early May and currently have a BW34. This is after the dealer said I could have it July/August, but me being a fool asked to push it back to Sept so I could have a 66 plate.

Me too. I did exactly the same and pushed out for a 66 plate. My build week is 36 despite ordering in April. It will be interesting to see what build week you get ordering now. I'll be nearly 6 months from order to delivery. My fault as I could have had a late July / August car but chose to push out.

I'm with you in the Bose. I'd say that it's definitely one worth stumping for. More so, since unlike the running boards, an audio system isn't as easily or cheaply retrofitted.

My last two Audi's (A5 coupe, A6 Saloon both BE's) have been in Daytona and it is such a great colour and having Rotors on both the Turbines are as good for muck hiding given the grey rims.

Important thin is you have ticked the must have box as colour, wheels etc are irrelevant.

YOu've got me worried now, I didn't even consider the BOSE or listen to the sound system at all to be honest whilst I was test driving them

Q7newbie
06-07-2016, 03:05 AM
No need to panic. Ultimately, the magnitude of the omission is really dependent on how much you value good sound quality in your vehicle.
Some folk here could care less. And fair play to them. The same way others here aren't too fussed about colour etc.
BUT, if a decent car stereo does matter to you, then I'd implore you to get the Bose, because the standard stereo to my ears and a few others on here is mediocre.
I've been driving a courtesy car Q7 since February and it doesn't have the Bose stereo, and I cringe at the sound quality (lack thereof).
With such an open Soundstage (the cabin), there is just way too little of everything: bass, vocal depth, detail. When the volume is low, everything is just lost and muffled. And when you try crank it up at all, instead of a rich, absorbing and detailed broadcast of sound, all you get really is noise. It sounds cheap and struggling. (think, the motoring equivalent of a London Yob blasting trance music off his Sony Ericsson mobile phone, circa 2005).
For me who does 1000miles/week averagely in a car, a good stereo is vital. It's literally a deal breaker as to whether I can live with a car or not.

Don't feel pressured by me and my fellow audiophiles. We just want you to make the most informed purchase possible, so as to maximize the joy your car will give you.

Hi

all depends if dealer has cars on order already
some time they pre order cars then amend that car befor it gets built so that way you get it quicker

otherwise can take 3-4 months depending on factors

but once a build date is locked in it’s around 4-6 weeks from the build date to the dealers

its very hard to guess

last one I order was feb 14th 2017 build date was around 12th march and received it end of april

but car had been pre ordered by dealer befor I came alone and also very busy time as people trying to beat the car tax rise

plus 1st March new reg orders and had Easter mixed up in that too

hope this helps a little

The car is built and has left Bratislava. Wondered generally how long from leaving factory

as above rough rule of thumb is 4-6 weeks from build date to dealer depending on train catching boat

then being checked in the uk the longest part for me was waiting for transporter from the uk dock to dealer

sounds like you should have yours 2-3 weeks inc dealer pdi

Cheers Gents. My A7 is due an MOT on the 23rd October and I’m trying to dodge it... by doing the trade in before 18th as I go on holidays on the 20th

Apparently was still in Emden at the docks last Thursday. Looking unlikely to see this in October I reckon :-)

Playing on the configurator whilst waiting for my Ink Blue SQ7 - currently stuck in the UK docks- and it looks like the colours have changed . Ink Blue , Sepang and Graphite have gone. Galaxy Blue, Navarra Blue and Samurai Grey seem to be the replacements.

Glad that didn't happen a few months ago, as I faffed around enough making a choice.

Just had a quick look on the configurator. Not sure about the new colours - Samurai Grey could be nice.

Be interesting to see when they’re on the road. Not sure about beige. Always reminds me of an Allegro or some other crappy car BL used to churn out!

When I order mine was told they was dropping Sepang blue and also the turbine wheels

strange when they was so popular could understand if they wasn’t selling

I See there’s now a black edition? However I don’t like the new 21inch wheel option. I messed around with paint choices also. My car is confirmed for collection 1st November . Looking forward to it :-)

I was trying to work out what extras you actually got on the Black Edition as it’s fairly expensive base price vs standard SLine (but gave up after 60seconds to spec my own car)
