View Full Version : SQ7 open! Options list headache...

Hello all.

So the SQ7 is finally available to spec. and order, but only on the Audi UK app. Having a few options list headaches, would appreciate your opinion on this one:

The car comes with high beam assist and virtual cockpit as standard, so I was going to forget about the technology pack as I don't care about head-up display TBH. However, I still want the three-year subscription for Audi Connect BUT the configurator will only allow me to get it in conjunction with the technology pack! This is confusing as it's listed as a separate item (IT3)...technology pack is WB4. Seems a total rip off to pay £1,400 for a pack when the bit I want is only £350.

...or can I just forget about it and then call up and pay my subscription after I get the car?

It comes with an "imbedded SIM", does this mean I get unlimited data for Google maps etc?

I've asked my dealer all these questions but I thought some of you may have experience of these in the real world, so thanks in advance for any input.

Cheers
G

I am pretty sure you can call up and pay later or do online. Imbedded sim covers the safety / concierge type services and I think there's an option to pay on top for data?

Personally I love the HUD and wouldn't pass on it. A lot of info there now so can keep your eyes on the road.

Many thanks for that...can you switch the HUD off? My missus hates the idea of it!

You have to do it on the Audi UK app...

Also, does anyone have electric steering wheel - does this have a memory function tied into the seats and mirror?

Does the regular key remember your memory settings, or do you need the advanced key for this?

Electric Steering Column will remember your place but you need Adv Key to go with it. If you have two keys it will move to the stored position for each key.

Get the HUD! Yes you can turn it off

Actually, thats a lie, you dont need adv key for it to remember your place. Having Adv Key means as soon as you open the door and its your key everything moves to its position. If you dont have adv key you just press or press hold the respective memory button in the door and the column will move with the seats, mirrors, radio settings, temp etc.

I love opening the door and all the stuff setting itself up for me. Its quite cool (and sad)

I have elec steering column and yes you can set via mem and key

when you turn the car off it has easy entry so column goes up but not in looks cool too
turn on ignition and the wheel comes down to the set position

Adv key is the BIGGEST miss on my Q7.

When budgeting make sure you allow 67GB monthly data allowance

Many thanks all. I've never had an advanced key, so if I wouldn't miss it. But I can see the benefits of it so it may stay in, the wife doesn't need to see the options list anyway, does she?

Pitch...you never used 67 GB in a month...did you? What exactly burns the data? Is it purely just using the car as a wifi connection?

Could be streaming porn.......who knows.

I have done 2GB in 15 days. I have now shut plenty down and even with the usage meter on the Google Earth seems to be eating it. One thing I need to check is though is my next door neighbour farmer isn't using my hotspot streaming Farmers Weekly......

Advanced key also gives you the electric boot cover and kick to open boot.

The adv key is great for just not having to get your key out all the time. The foot waggy boot opening thing was good for showing off to folk but in practice in two years I don't think I ever used it in combat.

Now electric rear blinds, they were useful and great.

O. Lord....Decisions Decisions tis indeed going to be an headache

This appears to near on the exact same spec as the SLine Q7 we are waiting on.. In the end if about 3+ plus if deliberating between tech pack etc I couldn'tdon't drop much infact I end up ticking most packs as it was a difference of a few hundred.. My only grip still is I should have got Adv key albeit b
NOT for 950 ripoff price

Can't actually help with what options to drop as NOT in the market for the SQ7 & more Powerful SPORT ENGINES generally.... Especially, seeing in as that extra power is doesn't do FULL justice on most roads in the UK most of the time..

At my age now though, I'd go features and fuel efficiency any day ;-0 any over speed....Thus making it very difficult for me to DROP options on the car for the sake of the engine speed :-(..

Happy ☺ choosing and deliberations man..

Im sure you'll get all the right options 👌in there in the end..

Thanks for that satyp. I know the advanced key is quite dear at £950 so I'm not sure it's worth it...although others have said it's a must have. Like matrix headlights and power door closure etc., it's not something I've ever had on a car before so I wouldn't notice not having it. Plus, I promised my missus that I wouldn't go nuts with the options if we went SQ7, all she wants is a heated seat and a speedo that "just shows the numbers"! Been through the options list I posted up and have taken a few things out for the moment (advanced key, heat/sound insulating glass et al.) so we'll see....

I had a 272 S Line out for a spin a few weeks ago and I was HUGELY impressed with it's comfort and pulling power...not far off my X5 which has over 100 BHP and 150 Nm more! Was really tempted but I just knew that I would pull up next to an SQ7 some time and would be kicking myself...

Advanced key is less than a £1 a day over 3 years if you look at it that way!

Apart from not having to get the key out my pocket to open the car, I really like the auto boot cover (lifts up when the boot opens).

I spec'd the adv key (comfort) on my wife's 3 series years ago and she didn't see the benefit until she didn't get it on her next car.

I must be doing something wrong here...it's my wife who get to drive with big fancy SUV and I get the Passat to tootle around in! Mind you...I don't fancy the Q7 fuel bill with my commute from Edinburgh to Aberdeen!

The SQ7 comes with "Electronic luggage compartment cover (3U7)" as standard...is that the auto boot cover you mentioned? At the end of the day I might just get it (and the others) and take the flak when the car comes :beerchug:

That's the spirit! Just close your eyes and take the plunge mate! She can't have you remove anything once it's delivered anyway! And even though she'll be the primary driver (as is the case with most of us on here it seems! She'll love you for the gadgets once she gets them. Shellac so love you for the envy she'll get from family and friends!) oh and you'll be happier too coz you'll enjoy them on the rare occasions she let's you drive it!
