Strange engine noise on start

Hi Guys,

my engine started to make a strange noise mostly noticible when I start the car with a cold engine and it fades after some time - I uploaded the sound:

Did anyone else experienced this issue or would you maybe know what causes this?

thats an exhaust blow, posswibly from the manifold or egr area.

it is? Because it comes from the engine not the exhaust, and it just started to happen recently...

Sounds like an injector seal.

could be, is it a diesel though, or a petrol. ?? i cant tell over all the chuffing noise.

Petrol, 1.4 16V (55 kW) engine

check the spark plugs are tight. the noise is an escape of exhaust gas , hence the chuffing. its a typical, sound you get when one part of an exhaust manifold is split, so you only get the sound from one cylinder. other possibilities are a blown head gasket or cracked exhaust manifold, as well as a loose spark plug. if its a crack in the manifold then as the manifold gets hot and expands it can seal itself up. use a length of rubber hose pressed into your ear to try to locate it.
