New Q7 M4 DAB radio question

Ok guys here is a question that hopefully some can answer.

Has anyone got the radio station logo/cover art to work on their car?

Now my wife has a new Seat and her DAB displays artwork as per this photo in her car

Now I refuse to believe that Audi don't do it. In the radio settings in fact it has the option to display logo or cover art???

Be damed if I can get it to work. Now I appreciate that this my be a mild OCD thing for me but my music in MMI via ipad or Android Auto displays album artwork and my phone contacts photos are displayed in call and directory. So it must be able to work.

Anyone got art work for DAB?

I will check in the morning but I think I bet the same as you. I did hit the right option button when on the first screen in your photos and ticked an option along the lines of 'additional info'. Haven't checked to see if it did much though

Some stations display them on the Q and some don't for a strange reason...try the national BBC radios like 5 live etc they work.

Hi Skippy.

I've got it working this morning. Go into DAB where you see the list of stations, hit the right options button to bring up Options then scroll down to the bottom to "Radio Settings".

Screen shot below shows the settings I have now. By default "Detailed Station Info" wasn't ticked and "Preferred Image" was "Cover Art". I'm sure this is right if not try "Slide Show".

Actually mine does work but only on the Radio 1 to radio 6 stations. Capital etc doesn't though, but it's strange I know they must broadcast the image because my wife's Seat has them

Ive never given it great thought but yes, BBC stations the logos appear, but not for others like Capital/Kiss etc.

Do they appear under the radio tab on the instrument cluster/virtual cockpit? Mine dont

Also, I use the Napster integration. Artwork appears on the MMI screen for that, but not on the Instrument cluster/VC!

This has software bug written all over it.

I have detailed Station info "ticked" and I tried Cover Art / Slide Show and Station Logo.

Even "Slide Show" enabled on BBC Radio 2 which has that "stacked logo" doesnt seem to do anything!

I thought it would tell us the show and song playing info. A lot of my other dab devices do. I even had an 'aftermarket' head unit in a knackered old Corsa in the 90's with RDS or whatever which could do that...

I googled the issue and came across a VW forum and they were dropping PNG files onto SD cards to import them.

Who's got a new new Q7? Might have a newer software version that rest of us and may work? Be great if we could all test the same "D1 National" Station like Capital UK or similar in conjunction with software levels.. we then can build a case. I'm already hassling my Audi Dealer.

Mine is only 5 days old and on 0442 still

Thanks Srb... I think 442 is the latest... I believe the Media driver on 442 cars is "095" whereas on 0358 cars its "092" but irrespective it appears this bug still exists..

Just look at all her smug logos working nicely

Although look at Magic logo is showing Smooth radio cover art and absolute 80s is showing gold cover art. At least I have something to throw back at her lol

Ok so today I drove from home near fareham to Guildford and when I parked at Guildford I thought I would try the London DAB stations and see.

Well some did work. So I got Heart and Capital to work, this was on the slide show setting and I could enlarge the image and in the station logo it shows the artist and song currently being played

Eventually I choose radio 1 that had a logo displayed and then capital and the logos came back. It's still very hit and miss and slow.

It didn't matter who I tried though I still could not get Kiss or magic to show logo regardless of choosing London or national DAB.

I know kiss and magic broadcast because as I have said the wife's car has it.

Very annoying and so far the only thing about the car I'm not liking. The DAB is a bit rubbish atm.

Set to slide show in radio settings. When on a normal station view you get and i for information and next to that boxes (circled in picture) http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160527/a4fec4cd73a280bcd45155383b8cfa56.jpg sometimes the boxes are greyed. But if white you have more options available. Hit the plus on the right of the screen (control knob right function) and choose display slide show I think. Can't remember exactly what the wording is.

I suspect this is a combination of an MMI bug that Audi need to sort out and whether you happen to be in an area that has decent DAB broadcasts.

Also, seems other VW group brands upload the station logos with dealers often pre-loading cars. Could explain why your wifes Seat appears to work better?

This site provides some interesting info. If you're not listening to the major stations, you're better off on FM or streaming! I've just spent a grand on BOSE, I don't want 64kbps Mono!!
