View Full Version : Temp Gauge mismatch?

Not sure if this is me but the manual LED gauge on the left hand side jumps to middle temp nearly as soon as engine starts from cold. But the corresponding gauge in the VC was still showing as <60c so the two didn't marry up if that makes sense.

I couldn't take a pic at that point as was driving but took this as soon as I stopped. They are a bit more in sync but it was out much more a few minutes before.

Can anyone else just keep an eye on this on their vehicles. Im intrigued if it's a fault or just a software bug perhaps.

Cheers.

Andy

Is it possible one is “radiator” as in water & the other “oil” temp gauge.. Still doesn't explain why the manual starts so high in any case .. Its not like 👍 its pre-heated ..

I happened to see the same thing last night. I'd only had the engine running a few minutes and went for a drive. I was considering accelerating a bit harder and glanced down to see be left gauge in the same position. I will check again and also the manual!

Oh yeah you could be right mate. I never noticed the subtle difference in the symbols...

One shows an oil can and so should be for either transmission or engine oil temp. The other is general engine temp. Only my guess from the photos so don't quote me on that

Left one is coolant so other one must be oil?

But you also have a bulb out already??

I've never noticed but will take a look at the symbols and temps tomorrow

Bulb Is the wing mirror led that got damaged as per other thread.

I think you guys are right. One must be water, other oil.

Don't think you or I will have efficiency pitch, it only comes with dynamic pack I think

It ain't very efficient. Lol

I have been concerned Andy that a few times now I have seen photos of your VC and it's been in efficiency. With an engine like that it should be in dynamic or comfort at the very least. Sort it out.

lol, busted.. thats a good point :)

It's weird...I find dynamic and in fact all other modes more economical [emoji15]

Still doesn't stop me going back in to Econ just to make sure [emoji23]

Thanks Max! I'm pretty certain the left gauge is water and the VC display is Oil...

My ABT Engine Unit doesn't "kick in" until the Oil gauge hits about 100oC. They say its to ensure no damage to engine, so therefore the displays seem to make sense in that regard

Thanks mate

Andy

Yeah I knew one is water other is oil but through the I read that the water started in mid point even when engine was nearly cold

so photo was to show mine at cold point never looked before so I didn't know

still glad your sorted
