ESP light on all of the time

Hi I have a 2001 2.0 Beetle and the ESP light comes on all of the time.Is it the same as a Golf and needs to go on a VW diagnostic machine to find out which sensor is at fault?. Regards Booster

I have a golf only just acquired it and it was news to me that this warning light comes on when the ESP is switched off, usually lights come on when you switch things on:( so we thought there was a fault on the car lol when you say the light is on all the time is this whether the ESP is switched on or off? Other than this I can't help sorry!
