Never actually got to drive the 218 until today and heck it has surprised me. Obvious not even close to wifeys 300ps R but an absolute country mile ahead of my previous A6 for sheer pull.

Great to hear that the 218 is a surprise, I'll also be coming out of an A6. You've put my mind at rest.:biglaugh:

Cheers chaps.

Thakey - My last two have been 2WD 177ps's and there is just no comparison whatsoever with the Q7. I had read that that the smaller lump felt strained above 3k but a blip this afternoon to 4k and it was whisper quite still and did not feel stretched at all.

My last BE A6 have virtually every option box ticked and this Q7 is bog with the exception of the fancy dash and the tech is fantastic, the base speakers are even passable one played with a bit.

I am sure you will be very happy and if you find yourself over the border pop up for a spin.

Edinburgh Audi, no one around here could match them or seemed particularly interested in what I actually wanted.

I could not recommend them enough.

That's very kind of you pitch. My current A6 is exactly that, FWD 177 Black Edition. I wish I was as sensible as you with the options, but I've got a bit "tick happy" on the new Q7. I'm so happy the 218 drives so well as every review that I've read says that the bigger power version is the one to go for. At nearly £3000 more it was hard to justify. Had it only been nearer £1000 then a no brainer. It will be the wife's car 95% of the time so based my decision on that.

Keep us all posted on how it goes in the next few weeks and enjoy your first weekend in it.

I am hoping the standard sound system sounds ok I forgot to tick the Bose. I like my music loud but I'm no audiophile expect and as long as it does not distort I doubt I will notice depth etc. Glad you have some play in adjustment to make it sound OK.

many thanks buddy.

Been out about today for meetings and the Q7 is a great place to sit, trust me you will be over the moon with the 218 over the 177 A6.

My view on the cost of the 272 was the same as yours, it made a big difference on PCH quotes.

The standard is fine but having had Bose in my previous car and B&O prior to that it does fall well short Skip....
