Air con gone wrong !!!!!

Hello one and all
Is there anyone out there that has come across this littte problem,have got a 2002 V5 passat which likes to flatten my battery,for some reason the air con hydrator cooling fan will not shut down,even when the ignition is off.The air con works perfectly ok ,though i do need to disconnect its cooling fan to stop it discharging the battery.:1zhelp: many thanks

I had this problem with my Audi A4 a couple of years ago. The cause was the control relay, mounted in a plenium chamber had become flooded and the relay intermittently caused the fan to run. The first time I realised this was when I was woken up one night with a roar coming from my driveway, it was pouring with rain and upon investigation I found the fan to be running flat out leaving me with little choice other than to find the correct fuse to pull to prevent a flat battery. If this is your problem, local garage found it for me, beware the fuel pump relay is in the same area and this for me was the next failure! :D
