Quiet Speaker

I have standard speakers in my Golf GT TDi. However, the speaker in the drivers door is quieter than the speaker in the passenger door. I have tried adjusting the balance (the car has an Alpine head unit) but when set in the middle the drivers speaker is still quieter - I can hear music from it but only quietly.

Has anyone come across this problem before or can anyone suggest a solution?

Me personaly would have the head unit out and check the wire is connected properly, as it maybe as simple as the connection isnt great?:biglaugh:
