Bog standard 3dr 1.4 MK4

When all doors inc. boot are closed the dash display indicates that there is a door open, where are the sensors located?

there is no issues with the interior light - this operates normally.

micro switch in the door lock is either stuck in the open position or you have open circuit in the wiring.The micro switch is part of the door lock but you could replace it if you open up the door lock.Vag com may indicate a faut in convience electrics or check the measured value blocks to determine the door lock and it status ie locked closed open

I've no experience of vag com but i'm assuming these are possible fault codes?

Yes but also the measured value blocks will show you what the lock is doing and if there is communication from the lock to the window motor and then to the convience control unit so you can quikly establish if the wire is open circuit or the micro switch is inop.I am sure there will be a member near you who could have a look.using vag com enter address 46 (convience electrics) select measured value blocks (08) then block 10 and this will show you the status of all 4 doors or 2 depending on the amount of doors.
