Hi! Q7 on order

Hi all,

New joiner so thought I'd kick off with an introduction.

I placed an order for 272 S-line in early Feb and currently waiting for the build week to be locked in. I just stumbled across this forum and saw Nemo's post on how to track the build week from the your Audi site - many thanks for that!!

The original build week was 16 but then in moved to 22, 24 and then 26 due to the Dynamic Pack according to the dealer. It then jumped back to 14 three weeks ago and then last Friday with 3 days to go jumped back to 18! It's driving me nuts but at least I can check myself now.

I previously owned an 2011 X5 40d M-Sport and after 4.5 years had got tired of the really hard ride. I originally thought I'd go for the new xc90 which I really liked but thought I'd just test drive the Q7 before going ahead. However, the Q7 for me was just a different class when I did the test drive. Noise level, ride quality and the V6 just made it a no brainer (along with the fact Volvo's discount was minimal).

Hopefully some of the niggles I've read about on here will be ironed out but I think that would be the case with any car. My X5 was no better!

Lol don't worry I can help you with that....it only seems to update once a day and that's early morning.

So checking at 8am onwards is all you need...especially if you're looking at the background screens.

The tracker is potentially a day or so out. For example current order is according to tracker 'on its way to Uk' whereas background tracker has it at status 39 and dealer text this morning to say it's in UK

Logged in this morning to see the car has moved along to "Preparation". Looking at the background screens, it's now moved to Status 20 so build week is confirmed as Week 18 / 2nd May. Glad to see its locked in, shame it didn't come forward a bit but hopefully only 7 weeks to go now.

Sounds like May will be a busy month for you!

Mine was ordered 6th Feb so looks like they're running to the same schedule. Did you order Dynamic pack or one of its components as that is what pushed mine back a month.

Nothing on the Dynamic Pack in my order. I've gone for the Towing pack, rear view camera, smartphone interface and rear side airbags as options.

Looks like the wait is nearly over! Logged into youraudi this morning and the car has moved across to "Panel Shop" (showing as Status Code=21). I wasn't expecting to see a change until Monday onward for build week 18. Not sure if this is standard or whether it's slightly ahead of schedule?

Same for me- The broker I ordered through keeps telling me this week is build week 18, but obviously the yourAudi tracker states it as beginning next week...

Either way, it needs to hurry up and get here already!

My order was through a broker, who seem to have ordered from Milton Keynes Audi (I'm not sure if this is the HQ, or a franchise dealer). What I can say though, is my order was officially placed to the broker by myself on the 24th Feb, but the welcome stage was 10th Feb... suggesting MK Audi already had it in the pipeline to be sold on/amended.

So it could well be that your order has not been placed? This is speculation though as it is my first experience with the Audi ordering process.

Yeah, just got confused as my dealer said that its been ordered and sent me a screenshot from their dealer system showing a status of p (order not yet accepted). Yet when u look at the jsonlint it's stuck on order status 00.

Entirely normal....you'll be in panel shop today, paint shop tomorrow and then assembly with QC beginning on 'Build Week' date all being well

Audi replaced my 4 x disks as they were scoured by whoever "drives" the car around the port after standing still for 4 weeks, windscreen was scratched with grit under wiper. far from impressed. Next time I will collect it myself rather than some idiot test driving a new car!!

Great news! You would hope this part of the journey wouldn't take too long. Sounds like 2 weeks from leaving Bratislava to being at the dealer is achievable at the moment. Mine changed to left Bratislava yesterday and hoping it will be ready for pick up w/c 23rd

we're on holiday from 21/5 to 4/6 so I told the dealer yesterday that if the car isn't ready for this Saturday, which I very much doubt it will be, we'll not take delivery until after we're back. It'll be something nice to return to.

Looking back at all your timelines, it appears that leaving Bratislava to getting to the dealer is about 10-12 days. Hoping mine sails by Saturday!

I have suggested that. If I were the dealer, I'd want the delivery to be made asap to get the commission this month and so the q7 isn't their risk parked up whilst our exchange s-max gets older.

It must be. I'd assumed it had changed as it had moved to an area pending the African Highway returning later today.

Looks like the Schelde Highway has just arrived in Grimsby and the EMS highway has just left Emden arriving in the early hours.

If I get the arrived in the UK tomorrow it must have been on the Schelde. I had assumed it would go to Sheerness but Grimsby is pretty direct albeit further away.

How does one figure out if the build date is now locked. When I checked mine through the background checker it's showing build date as week starting 13th June.

It wasn't long ago I was in that position, hopefully you'll get some good news soon. Mine changed to status 20 about 4 weeks out so hopefully yours will change by this Friday.

I wouldn't rule it out fella, mine went from on the boat to at the dealer very quickly. I think it was 3 days on the boat then next day was on the truck and then at the dealer arrived the next day again.

Just depends I guess on how quick the truck transport happens

The VIN and reg were on the DVLA form the dealer sent me. The dump from the tracker doesn't show it, but perhaps that's because it's still at Status 40 / In the UK and not at the dealer.

Yeak.. I'm still searching the detailer, rim protection and GAP side of things..

With regards to detailing a lot of the companies out advertise products based on used cars. I.e the use if circular polishers that tend to leave the tell tale circular scratches.. So don't quite fancy that just yet.. I've seen a couple of “NEW CAR” detailing treatment options on some websites..

Hopefully I can find them again chase them up ;-0

Very! I think all the more excited as I sold my X5 a week after placing the order. Dealer emailed a short while ago to say he'd managed to move the collection from 4pm to 8:30am.

If the rain holds off, I will give it a light clean myself (2 bucket method etc). The detailers concern is that they tend to scrub at the residue left from the protective film causing paint defects or at worse leave swirl marks from poor washing technique. At least if I do it myself I've only myself to blame!

It's booked in for mid June as I had to rearrange when the build week moved from 14 to 22. I'm going for the Siramik Glasscoat and the Diamas Professionali finish - as much as you can see on a video, this finish does look good Mclaren 650S: Diamas Professionali- Gleammachine - YouTube (https://youtu.be/W6lEsWVdnrA)

As well as the immediate finish, it's also supposed to protect the paint and repel water / dirt for quite a few months therefore reducing the frequency of subsequent washes. I'll feedback on how this pans out in the real world!

When I bought my Touareg back in 2007, I paid VW several hundred to put some protective coating on it. It looked crap when I picked it up and never saw any benefit. They did give me a case full of cleaning equipment, however one of the contractors working on my loft conversion stole it - money well spent!

When I got the X5 I kept thinking I'd like to get it done properly by a detailer but just never got round to it. Paintwork did look really tired after 4 years, so I thought I'd get the Q7 done at the start and see if it's worth the money.

I promise my feedback will be honest and not just trying to justify the spend if I can't spot the difference after 2 months!

That will be great and will definitely make my mind up on whether to use the detailer to get a good start on the paintwork. I do look after my cars and regularly wax etc but as this new purchase is by far the most expensive car I've ever bought, I really do want it protect it.

I did it all via email once it landed in the UK. Once it hit the UK, I think Audi allocate the registration and all the paperwork can then be done.

Congrats srbsq7 I can see from the tracker it took 20 days to enter panel shop from preparation stage but post that its been very quick. I booked mine on the 26th Feb and it changed to order stage 10 on 9th March post that there is no change except that build week has changed a few times 14th to 19th then 22 to 31 and now 24. Just thinking that now its well within the 4 weeks of build the tracker should move to preparation stage, annoyingly the dealer doesn't have any information

Thanks. I'm not sure they have much influence or ability to see the detail of the pipeline. My dealer did tell me quite early on if I dropped the dynamic pack, it get the car a month earlier though.

Fingers crossed you get some movement in the next couple of days. Waiting to move to prep was definitely the worst part!

Dealer sent me a video of the car this afternoon. Not having bought an Audi for many years not sure if this is fairly common on unique to Essex Audi?

Despite asking for it not to be cleaned it still looked new and shiny! Still had a few protective strips on it and yellow numbers on the windscreen so they've definitely not cleaned it as requested.

I picked the car up this morning and wow, what a car it is. The thing that really struck me was how good the base car is - by this I mean what comes as standard. I would normally not consider looking at a car when my budget would only stretch to the basic car with no options. After my first day with the Q7, whilst I am glad I ticked several boxes, I would still have been really happy with the car if I'd ticked none.

Really impressed so far. Once I've had time to get to grips with each option, I'll post my opinion/feedback on each and whether I think I've spent wisely or not!

Not long to go then! I'm still looking forward to getting of the train each night. I may need to change jobs as my car commute isn't long enough!

I've posted a couple of internal ones with the Ambient lighting. Only got one external one done after a light wash last weekend - detailer not booked till mid June.

Part of me still wishes I'd gone for the 21" 5 twin spoke - until I get in and drive it.

Yes it is. On balance the wheels are fine and I was going for ride quality to stop the moaning from the family after my X5 MSport! Also saved over a grand - hang on, no i didn't, i just added the matrix headlights!

Turbines will look amazing.

I think the contrast of the tinted windows looks really good with the white. The privacy glass on the Q7 seems to be very tinted compared to my previous car.

Yep we were literally counting down the hours... Couldn't really fit 2 adults and 3 car seats comfortably in our existing cars so we were really hoping to get it before half term so we can go out as a family.

The missus is loving it too which is a relief!

Love it - in fairness I think the new Q7 looks best in Silver or White....so I had to choose between Daytona or Black and went Daytona [emoji23] but every time I see a white one it just looks stunning [emoji1360] and I've only ever seen one silver one yet..

The wide version I dont like, it may sound weird but its "too much" ... if you can believe me. Here was the first one in the UK to have it done (not mine!)

The slim version doesnt have those large wheel arches... but if I was to do it, I'd need to get all those bits wrapped in the wrap too... pricey I suspect.
