Engine Check Workshop

I own a VW Tiguan 2008 and about 10 days ago the above message appeared. Since then when it re-appeared a few days later I noticed that the Engine Management Lamp was also flashing on and off. Then two days ago the Engine Emission Control lamp is now constantly on. I have the car booked in on April 12th but was wondering if it is safe to drive?

The usual advice is not to drive with any flashing warning lights however your questions will get more coverage in the correct sub-forum ;)
