Hi,

I have been looking on this the forum and online (Google) for a few weeks now looking for information on Audi services as my 1st service is due in 500 miles, needless to say the information is varied and somewhat confusing so I thought I would officially join up and ask myself to get the facts.

I have a 2014 plate Audi A1 S Line 1.6 TDi which is due it's first service (19k). Obviously with it being a semi new car my first stop was Edinburgh Audi for a service quote. I had a tear in my eye when I found out how much they wanted, This is what they quoted me....First long life service at 19k would be £296.00. Then I called up Edinburgh VW who were nice enough to quote me £349 excluding VAT....

I then found out that you don't need to go to dealerships to get services done! so I got a quote for a LOT less from Autohaus Edinburgh (Audi Servicing in Edinburgh - Audi, Volkswagen, VW, Seat, Skoda, Mercedes Benz and BMW Servicing and Repair Specialists, Edinburgh (http://autohausedinburgh.co.uk)) who are an independent VW garage with great reviews (they do most car brands I think BMW, Merc etc).

What I am confused about is this whole major/interim service stuff. What exactly do I need done at 19k on 2014 plate car?, from gathering information I have found out that I need the following stuff done (according to Audi service website as well). Is this an major service or interim?

Long life oil change
Oil filter change
Air filter change
fuel filter change
Electrical check
Drive/cam belt check
Clutch check
Hydraulics check

Does anyone have any advice on what exactly needs done it would be greatly appreciated

at 2 years old and having covered 19k, I'm surprised you've not had an interim service already - it would be wise to ditch the long life servicing regime.

the service due will be a major - generally, anything more than an oil change is considered a major service.

replacement of belts and such are usually added onto the back of a major service when needed.

Thanks for your feedback.

I am only going by what Audi Edinburgh service have told me over the phone. I called after 12 months ownership to be told "The car will tell you when it needs a service". The car is telling me this now. Audi also mentioned I am on the Long Life service regime of course which is 20k first service and 40k 2nd service. The car is on lease so I will be giving it back after 48 months (in 2 years time) maybe before so I don't think I can come off the Long Life regime since the car will be given back.

I am booked in with Autohaus this month to do the 1st service, the guys there are ex Audi techs and were very helpful, they mentioned that a major service is only needed at 40k (same answer as Audi Edinburgh).

The info I needed was what you mentioned above "anything more than an oil change is considered a major service" which is great advice.
