Working my way round this forum having frequented A4, A5 and A6 sections so how the hell have I ended up here.????

Well I started looking at PCH deals on A6 Avants having sourced wifeys Golf R on the mad deals of Oct '14, and I was amazed at the very good deals on the 218ps models which were, and have been offered. The extra seats appealed as did the space and with the saving over the A6 the deal was done.

Now I know it will be no ball of fire but having lived with 2.0 4 pots the the past 10 years I am sure it will be no slower and the R is in the garage if a sanity check is needed.

So....
- has anyone experienced one of these potentially under powered barges yet????
- could anyone advise on height of tailgate when open, not sure if it will take the garage door out.
- I am confused over the connect subscription, never had this in the A6, but skip has advised elsewhere.
- the lack of CarPlay is a nuisance, but is there really light on the horizon.

Many thanks chaps

Congrats on the order and you're spot on re the deals on Q7s now...should've waited!

Have also commented re Connect on the other thread.

Re CarPlay there isn't as yet any solid news re retrofit but on another forum someone posted a link that somewhere in Europe (poss Spain) they were touting a May retrofit date.

Tailgate can have a look tomorrow if no one else comes back but I'm sure it opens higher than the roofline of the car...

Can't comment on the 218bhp but I'm sure it'll be ok.

Oh similar journey as yourself in the numbers from 4 to 5 to 6 to the 7.

It's a great car with lots of tech and I'm sure you'll enjoy.

I drove one last week as a courtesy car.

You're right, no ball of fire, but it was absolutely fine for the sort of car it is. If you want to win at the traffic lights, you're looking at the wrong model in the range although some of the orange ladies around here drive them as if they've just robbed the local tanning salon.

Bear in mind that BHP is irrelevant to most of us most of the time - it's torque which matters and a 3.0 engine producing less BHP than some 2.0 4-pots = loads of lovely torque. Drive it in the right way and it's a great car to waft along in. A lovely engine, I have to admit.

And when you're inside, you don't have to look at the outside. :biglaugh::naughty::cool: (Sorry)

The boot is quite high. I have a covered drive and thought the same. It is significantly higher than the roof line when fully open. Unless you have a barn for a garage I think you are going to have an issue there. Apparently you can set it to stop at a certain point though.

I've been on carwow.co.uk and specced a new Q7. I it came up to just over £70k. With the following:
-S-Line 272
-Phone Box
-Heat & sound Insulating glass
-Bose sound
-Advanced key
-3 spoke heated steering wheel
-Electric heated/auto fold/auto dimming mirror with kerb view
-memory seats
-air suspension
-rear view camera
-all round heated seats
-electric adjustable steering wheel
-smartphone interface
-21" titanium alloys
-tour pack
-all wheel steering
-parking pack
-ambient lighting
-virtual cockpit
-LED matrix lights.

The best offer I've been given is £65k by Milton Keynes Audi. Is that a good deal? Can I get better? And what other websites are there like carwow.co.uk?

The other one to look at is broadspeed - I'm sure I saw 10% off.

Have a look at the packs etc like dynamic as I think air suspension and something else you've ticked come in to that.

Edit: Dynamic Pack is basically Air Suspension and Tour Pack - that'll save you some money.

Look at Tech Pack as that is HUD, VC, Phone Box and you get the 3yr Connect subscription

Parking Pack gets you surround camera so you can untick rear view

Q7newbie I decided to have a quick play with your spec using the packs as I've described above and I gave you Daytona grey as a colour...

Ah! Great. Coz the way the Packs on Carwow.co.uk are done is a bit different to the main Audi configurator. So hence my befuddlement!
The carwow.co.uk config must be a bit crap to be fair, coz on the main Audi site, and any option you tick that's in a pack you select automatically gets deselected.

PCH came out a little over £6,000.00 a year over a two year lease and 10,000 miles a year. Then I added a couple of bits.

As @dghdgh (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/member.php/233481-dghdgh) said "Drivethedeal (https://www.drivethedeal.com/Contact.aspx)" tend to use non-franchised Audi dealers so don't have the added Audi Dealership licensing cost/baggage to contend with , so there discounts get ended up all the way upto 15% at time, so a lot more beefier than carwow, on the downside I spoke to "Drivethedeal (https://www.drivethedeal.com/Contact.aspx)" the last week as they weren't taking any Q7 orders, the lady reckons she's doesn't know when they will get more allocation to it as since they've run out.

I've tried Orangewheels (https://www.orangewheels.co.uk/), who responded quickly but couldn't commit to an order after the MY17 CHANGES triggered in May for some reason, SO SETTLED with a slightly lesser discount from carwow price via local dealer. I went for it as the figures, monthly's all worked for me with the 2k CONTRIBUTION. However, I'm still not keen on on 6.8% campaign PCP rate, which I'm told all customers get, which is a WHOLE different SUBJECT.

Depends on the balloon at the end too. I was all set to go for an xc90 and I think their rate was 5.9%, but with the same deposit and virtually the same OTR price as a comparable Q7, the xc90 monthly payments c.35% more. That's why I did a test drive on the Q7 and never looked back.

Q series? Power Tailgate Trick

As @NickTyler mentioned earlier

I believe the "Power Tailgate to be height-adjustable", so should be garage height friendly, ,or atleast it wants to be else a BIG OVERSIGHT on Audi's part :-0

Went through Drive the deal and it was with a franchised dealer, but quite far. ended up getting 13% discount but with the 1k finance contribution this works out around 15%.

Good luck with the haggling. I used a few online sites to get a decent discount and then went to my local dealer for the test drive. They couldn't match it but I opted to go with them as the discount was still significant and I was willing to pay the addition £1,500 over the 3 year PCP to be dealing locally.

I didn't have a great experience going through a broker when I got my previous BMW. In contrast, my wife dealt with a local BMW dealer when she got her X1 a few years ago and when we discovered a significant issue (from factory), the dealer agreed to order a new one and let us keep the old one until it was ready and then just exchanged cars (old one 6 months old with 10k) with no change to the finance.

I guess where I'm going here is perhaps don't get too focused on the short term savings and strike a balance.

What spec have you landed on?

wotnotQ7
10-05-2016, 10:59 PM
Totally agree with you, it's not all about the discount. I for one hardly haggles so taking chances there.

Spec wise, 272ps s line, rear view camera, Ambient lighting, Bose, virtual cockpit. Short list but surely going to add few more before order is confirmed.

Would be great if you could post some feedback on the 218 as that's what I've gone for so I could tick a few more boxes elsewhere on the spec. I'm yet to drive one as all the dealer cars are 272.
