Hi all

Just wanted to say a quick hello as I just collected my 2009 4.2tdi today. No doubt I will be asking loads of questions.

Hi, good choice of engine.

THanks Gavin. The drive home was brilliant. Going to try and access the hidden menu to see if I can get battery level showing on the mmi. After reseaeching, some say you will need vcds others say just go into hidden menu. Mine has the 3g version.

Thanks

Will most likely need to unlock it with vcds first.

Thanks all. Just got back from a little drive! Totally different from my last car, VW Golf Mk5 R32. Was looking at 7 seater cars for the expanding family and wasn't too sure on the Q7. Looked at all different makes, Ford, vauxhall etc before taking the plunge on the Q7 and really glad I did. Hopefully it remains trouble free. 2009 Facelift with full audi service history with 43000 miles.

Thanks again all

Don't frighten the poor bloke! He doesn't need deep pockets. No deeper than those needed for owning any other average executive-grade car.
And alot less than its rivals when you compare the great build quality and reliability of the Q7 over that of X5's, ML's and Land Rovers! 😉

Hopefully, touch wood, I don't have to spend too much apart from the usual expenses but if it does go **** up, will have it covered. So fingers crossed!

A Q7 can be run cheaper if your prepared to do some of the work yourself, with the help of the forums. I've done brakes, lower suspension arm, tailgate lock, inlet manifolds and think I've the best tyres for my size of wheel after going through a few makes.

Out of curiosity, what tyres did you go for in the end? I was thinking of going for the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 for the 21 inch wheels. Be interested to see what people opt for.

Thanks

I've gone for the nangkang AS-1 far outlasted the Pirelli and yokohama, and have a good rim protector. I know it sounds cheap and nasty but I'm really happy with them and don't look bad either.

Congrats on the Q7 pal. Lovely engine.
Get the vcds as you can unlock loads of items on it.
For me the Q7 runs and drives like any other car and if maintained well does not cost too much. Trust me you will enjoy the car for sure.

Thanks mate. Enjoying it so far, just worried about the battery drain at the moment. Will get VCDS after holidays in March but if there is anyone in North West London area willing to help out a newbie, will be much appreciated. Will pay for your time of course!

Thanks Chris

I'm in Stevenage and I've got a good code reader, not vcds. Having the reader has saved me a fortune, as it even tells you what part you need.

I run them too. I bounced around several options over the last 2years since I got my Q7, I was averaging 4000 miles per set on Pirelli and Yokohama's, but I'm at 7000+ on these Nankang, and they are still over 6/5mm.

No harm in trying the Nankang's then. Will give them a try as soon as I return from my holiday in march. Cheers again all

Battery drain is most likely a malfunctioning keyless entry door handle.
I'm running Altenzo sports navigators on my summer wheels which replaced the michelins that were on before also on 21's and they seem to grip better wet n dry, may be a tad noisier but look hardly worn after close to 6k miles on them.
