My boy has a 2004 2.o petrol 130bhp b5.5 and the following codes were inside when checked with genuine vcds 15.7.3
16500 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62)
P0116 - 008 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON
17584 - Bank1: O2 (Lambda) Correction Behind Catalyst
P1176 - 001 - Control Limit Reached - Intermittent
16523 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2
P0139 - 001 - Response too Slow - Intermittent
17700 - Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat (F265)
P1292 - 004 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
17536 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult)
P1128 - 001 - System too Lean
Having done lambda probe ageing tests on my 115 hp 2.0 and my other boys S6 (2 banks of 2) and his previous A4 v6 I went ahead and carried out the test.
Both B1 S1 and B1 S2 tested and came up OK
On measuring block group 41 the 'heating sensor 1 ON' was constantly switching to 'heating sensor 1 OFF'. Heating sensor 2 is stable off. Cat temp was 400'c
I have not had this on any other vehicle so is the lambda S1 ready for replacement ?

Any pointers for the 16500 and 17700 codes
After the lambda tests the temp was 96 and went for a road test monitoring temp for about 3 miles and it reduced to around 93 so I'm thinking the thermostat is ok and the problem is somewhere else . This engine has the all in one t-stat, housing and sensor as 1 replacement part.
I guess code 17536 is a result of a combination of the others.

Thanks
John
