Hi All,
Just joined the forum. Fell in love with an A8L 3.0 tdi on 09 plate and bought it a few days ago. Noticed Emissions Control Light come on and stay on. Car seems fine to drive but a little worried. Was sat around on dealers forecourt for a while. Its been serviced and MOT'd. Anyone offer any words of wisdom?
Thanks in advance

Get it scanned with VCDS before you start changing anything !

Hi Rob,
Thanks for that. Was thinking of getting one of those OBD Bluetooth dongle and downloading the Torq app to my phone. Cost <£5 and see what it tells me.

Just put the OBD Bluetooth connector and linked it to my phone. The emission light has gone out of it's own accord. The code logged was P2011. Any advice? Seeing as there are no codes in the car and it seems to be running well?

Inlet manifold swirl flaps, seems to be a reletively common fault on those engines, check the ball joint linkage from motor to flap shaft, take it back to dealers to sort it!

If it is the linkage the parts are about £8 each from audi and can be done fairly easily

Is it something I as a relative novice can check?

You can if you lift the engine cover off you will see the left and right inlet manifold at the rear their is a servo motor and inbetween is a short link bar if you wiggle up and down and there's play but no movement of the servo or the manifold linkage then they are worn

It only needs a few mil of play to throw the light up on dash. Repair kit on the bay 121494837235 but as said audi is cheaper

I would suggest inlet manifold runner
Get it back to the dealer asap so you don't get lumbered with the £560 per side bill
