Hi I'm hoping someone can help me I've got a 2006 r5 and it doesn't seem to want to rev over 3k revs! And there's a awful smell of fumes inside the car! I've had it to a friend and he thinks it's the dpf! There's no lights on the dash etc has this happened to anyone else?

I would expect a warning on the dash for DPF. The thing is are you sure you have one as you may not on a 2006 ?

Fumes in cab.....check around the exhaust manifold/turbo/EGR cooler area for evidence of exhaust leakage. There are a sveral fairly common issues that can happen. If you can see black sooty deposit anywhere in that area post a photo.

It will help to have a fault code scan if there's nothing obvious.

Sounds more like a breather / boost hose problem.

Mmmm I did have a split in the thin rubber pipe that goes to the turbo but I found that and cut it and put it back on but it didn't make a difference!

I did take it to my mate and the only code it had stored was P0183 but it wouldn't delete it for some reason?

The code indicates a problem with the fuel temp sensor or wiring. Located in fuel line passenger side of engine bay near fuel filter.

It it would be sensible to renew the fuel filter anyway given the symptoms.

What kind of fumes are you getting in the cabin, what does it smell of?

Fumes from the webasto auxilliary diesel fired heater? Do you only notice the fumes while driving slowly in cold weather?

Hi all well it doesn't seem that it was the dpf! And it's not the turbo! The lad at the garage has changed my fuel filter and now he can't seem to start the car? He now thinks it's the fuel pump at the back of the engine that could be the problem! Is he just clutching at straws? I took the car in driving now it won't even start

It's not difficult to remove a hose to check the fuel flow out of the filter to the tandem pump to ensure its not air.
TBH I wouldn't have thought the tandem pump would just pack up during a filter change. A failing tandem pump generally results in excessive cranking time to build up fuel pressure and/or fuel leakage into the sump. Check if the engine oil level is increasing?

Hi mate it's in the garage so I haven't actually got the car with me to test it! But according to him when he took the fuel pipe off it had a slow trickle of fuel coming out and he said it should be coming out really fast but I'm no mechanic so I'm not sure if he's right?

As above, plus possibility of leaking injector seal(s). While having a scan done monitoring live data on DPF saturation would be worthwhile.
Let us know how you get on.
