Had a passat 2.0 l 170 sel dpf replaced by dealer, due to it breaking down 3 times within a month.
Just received the brand new version 57 plate, dpf light comming on again, engine management system kicks in, resulting in power loss & passat unable to go over 50mph.
is this a common fault? it all seems to be connected with the dpf

what sort of driving do you do? DPF's work best over long runs if the car is used primarily for town work, or say on the channel islands then it's not a great solution. The DPF needs a weekly run at say 15 minutes on the motorway at a good speed this then allows them to burn the stuff they filter.

Well said, dpf are poo make sure you use only 507 oil spec as the wrong oil will cause to much ash build up and the dpf light will come on and you will have to carry out the basic setting as per handbook.Question why did you buy another one.

Definitely. The good old 'Italian tune-up' (i.e. thrashing it) works wonders. The only problem with that is that modern diesels are too powerful for their own good, and a bit of hard driving will soon have your licence worried.....
