alarm fault

Hi all,

audi a3, 2003, nearly 70,000 miles on the clock.

I wonder if any other audi user has come across this problem with the alarm:-

The alarm intermittently makes 'beeping' sounds. It does not appear to be the alarm because the sound is not from the horn, and the lights do not flash, just the 'beeps' that are annoyingly loud, but not as loud as if the alarm is going off.

This maybe late, but I saw this and inheriting an A3 of the similar age, we'd come across the same fault.
In brief, what the route cause was the fitting of the rear hatch, which at times didn't make contact. Adjusted the locks and checked and replaced one sensor and this cured the fault.
