Hi all,
I have a 03 b6 a4 tdi 130bhp, I'm looking to do a back box delete. Preferably I would like to make a bolt on piece to put in place of the stock back box. Has anyone on here ever done it? Any advice on what pipe/bends/fixings I will need?
Thanks in advance.

i would ask why. you will end up with an awful droning noise and no extra power.

From what I've read it frees up some power as the factory box is really restrictive. I will be keeping the mid box

It does but best results are with a decat .
Removing one of the boxes won't be a drone .
The silencers are a deflection baffle set up so not straight through and restrictive .
If like a Passat B5.5 the center box is a 15kg double skinned item .
I have a custom 2.5" s/s decat downpipe mated to an inexpensive 2.5" Jetex non res half system , so only a back box , wot no drone ;)

I will be decating at the same time, but I want to see if anyone else has done it and can offer me some advice

i did this on my 80, removed the rear box and had it straight through, so i know you get no extra power and it just makes a hell of a drone. soon put the rear box back on.

Thing is an 80 is a few generations behind , I'm comparing a 2003 with a 2003 .

an engine is an engine and an exhaust is an exhaust. just because its 10 years newer doesn't mean its any different.

This is the reason I want to make a bolt on piece, then if I don't like it I can just simply unbolt it and put it back to standard

I had a Jetex resonated half system the oe 15kg center box was now a small side branch , totally quiet but for £42 they did a race pipe that cancelled it out , a more sporty sound for a derv , without the drone .
Some peeps have done decats staight throughs , no silencers , yuk , my cup of tea .

How much was that? I want to spend as little as possible, which is why I'm looking into making one. A friend of mine has a straight pipe from front to back but its fat too loud and on a long journey it gets so annoying

You won't ever buy a Miltek , BCS or Akrapvovic system then .

I'm on a budget mate, haven't got the funds at the minute. And atleast if I make one and decide I don't like it, I haven't spent hundreds to take it back off.

It would be sweet if you fitted a dump valve at the same time

I'm guessing that's sarcasm?

Dump valve , lol .
It's a vnt turbo , you should get a faint choo on lift off because there is no wadding in the boxes .
If on a budget a decat is around £57 or gut the existing and further surgery to the middle and back box to make them straight through . Ideally get rid of middle box .
VAG baffle set up .

Convert like this .

Or solid tubing for a bit more noise .
