Hi All

This morning I woke up to find the local mob had kicked the living day lights out if my nearside wing mirror

I've sourced a spare off Ebay (complete new unit so just needs the wiring harness connected and mirror unit bolted on) but from searching around for a how to I'll need to get the trim and door cards out. Please can anyone give me some tips/links/trim tools to help me do this right?

My car is an A4 2004 Estate

Thanks in advance of advice

Andy

Try this link:

DIY: Door Panel Removal (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/383958-Door-Panel-Removal)

I have followed this more than once to sort a few problems. Make sure to buy some spare trim clips before you start as you will break some! If you damage any of the mounting points for the clips on the back of the door card, fix them with hot glue - works a treat!

Cheers Doc, that's an awesome guide! Really detailed how to.

What I hadn't realised was that the door trim comes out just from a sharp pull and the door cards need screws removed first. I guess I'll work it out when I dismantle things but can I access the wing mirror bolts by just taking the door trim off and leaving the cards alone?

I can't quite remember but I think the door card needs lifted out in order to remove the black plastic trim that covers the wing mirror bolts. To be fair I don't know as it's not something I've had to do - mine was a window regulator replacement & a wiring loom repair. There are lots of pics on the 'How to' so you might be able to work it out from there. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along......

Whilst I think about it, are these the right clips?

Probably sensible to order them before I start pulling everything out!

Yep they're the ones you need.
