A3 1.8T Quattro,MY 2000,changed ECU to one from 1 yr younger on same engine code for the tune pack on it to match my recent mods, ecu numbers same bar last letter[s],mine ends in single letter, new ecu has 2 letters, immo is removed, car runs on it reasonably well, but in safe mode 5-6 psi,obd codes as follows- 18058 data bus p1650 35 00 code [lack of communication],plus telling me n249 not operating correctly,n249 bypassed anyway,
car it came off had second lambda post cat, mine does not have it,wiring for rear appears to be there in box under my car where front plugs in,i understand rear operates under load,as this missing will this be causing safe mode,if i install one will this fix?.
putting original ecu back in gives zero faults and 19 psi again.....

some sound advice would be appreciated

use original ecu. the other is simply the wrong one, it may as well be from a ford fiesta as an a3. take car to a mapper and get it mapped.

Well you could always go to a specialist and pay for advice/diagnosis?
Using the OE ECU and getting a remap is sound advice.
