I've just removed the canyon 18s off the Passat alltrack and cleaned the alloys for winter storage.
On each wheel behind 1 spoke there is a small blister.
Now the car is only 14 months old and having just covered 6000 miles. Only 1 winter.
There is no kurbing. No damage to the machined face.... The inner dish is as clean as the outer face. Local dealer said they look like new.
On each wheel at the bottom of 1 spoke there is a blister on the inside (dish side).
Dealer has spoken to a vw person ( maybe a regional manager) and have basically been told as it cannot be seen they won't do anything !!!
Its with vw UK now but, clearly this is oxidisation between the alloy and paint.

Anyone had this issue and how was it resolved please ?

I'm thinking worse case is small claims....

Cheers

Paul

I swap my wheels each winter and haven't noticed this. I'll be changing them soon and will check. It's a little disappointing that VW are not honouring there guarantee.

Just checked and one of my wheels has a little corrosion. I don't use this wheel in the winter. Might point it out on the next service, but not expecting much. 29376

Well after 2 months of vw and dealers talking to each other, they have said they won't honour warranty. So next step is motorcodes regulator and trading standards.

You're wasting your time. They'll just say it was caused by a stone chip, and as it's visible, who cares?

stone chip, looks more like its touched a kerb to me, outer spokes, same height. best to send it off to a local alloy refurbisher.

Rowdy-999. That's not my photo. In my case there is a blister behind a spoke in the same spot on all 4 wheels. That cannot be a stone chip. What are the odds of a stone hitting the same spot within 3 mm on all 4 wheels ?

I know it wasn't your photo.
I'm not saying it was caused by a stone chip, only that VAG will say it was.

Now with motorcodes to adjudicate

So if they will not honour their replacement because it's not visible. I wonder what they would do about RUST if it were not seen yet is covered under the 12 year warranty. Check the precise wording for corrosion in the 12 year warranty. If it does not mention STEEL then oxidation is corrosion of aluminium due to poor surface preparation.

It's now with motorcodes to deal with. Will update on outcome
